Teaching Mahjong and Dragon Dance!

Hey Gang!

A lot is going on in preparing for the Chinese New Year.
Miyo is teaching a few people to play Mahjong.
Miyo: This game is mostly played with three or four players. First, you mix the tiles face down, sort of like shuffling the deck.
Then you will draw thirteen tiles.
Li Li: This seems complicated!
Jimin: I don't think it is once you learn the rules.
Geremy: I should have brought a pen!
Miyu: This game is a lot of fun! I taught my son, Chet, to play when he was little.
Chet: We just taught my young daughter!

Mahjong game set!

I found this Mahjong set for my dolls. It is 1/12 scale.
Table
You will need to separate the tiles. It will take a little work, and they don't all fit on the table at once.
Here you can see I popped out about one and a half sections and the table appears full.
I hope to make a bigger table and a case for this set.
Sunny: Hey, I heard the dragon costume has arrived! They are doing a dress practice!

Everyone leave to see the practice!
Chang'e: WOW! They look pretty good!
Connie: Yeah, I had my doubts but yes! They look pretty good!
purchase this dragon puppet because I want to have a couple of dolls to the Dragon Dance! I have a post of them trying to practice.
I cut off the strings and put pants on the guys I wanted doing the dance.

New Family!

 Hey Gang!

Here is my new family. Miyu. Is the grandma, Chet- is the son, and Tama- is the daughter.

Miyu is my rebodied  Madame Morrible.

I used the Sue Bird body to rebody her.  This way finding shoes and clothes won't be an issue.
So here she is rebodied, her ears pierced, bracelets added, and a new outfit.

In a previous post, I showed you how I rebodied my Chet action figure.

Tama is my mini Lori doll.

Projects For The Month Of July!

 Hey Gang!

I want to do more dioramas/stories.  What I realized is that I need more props, backdrops and items that give detail to dioramas because I have tons of stories The first thing I do when looking at a story is look at the background the clothes and the little details in the post! I feel these things give the dioramas/stories texture and interest! I sometimes find things that I didn’t know were available 1/6 scale! Then I am on the hunt for those items.

One of  my plain shots!  Hiroshi Takada

I often take a plain picture while planning out my diorama to see what it looks like and what I need to add to give it that texture that I want and love. I have been blogging long enough to up my game on dioramas and other things doll related. I am taking this time to also organize my 1/6 items. I can’t tell you how many times I want to do a post and can’t find the items I want to use.  So I will organize and remember to put things back after I am done too! * I am still waiting for my AA Signature Looks male to arrive.*

One of my favorite male characters is Hiroshi Takada.  His character and storyline is well developed in my mind! If he is to be ready for my next series of post for Chinese New Year, he is going to need a dojo!

So here is a simple post of a story as I take some test shot of the layout of the dojo. Hiroshi is joined by a few others of my favorite characters Thomas J. and Chet Chang.

DoJo Test Shots

Hiroshi gives martial arts instruction at his dojo!  He has be working with Chet as one of his private students.

 Chet: Good morning Sensei!

Hiroshi: Good morning Chet!

Chet: I have been practicing my forms.

Hiroshi: You are been working hard and it shows.

You still need to do some running to build up your wind! You need to spar with a partner.

Chet: I have been doing sparring with you!

Hiroshi: No, I have been instructing and correcting your form!  I will be better                                   able to do this if I can observe you with a partner...an opponent.

Thomas J. Woo

Chet, meet Thomas J.  He is also a student of mine.

I think having you two spar together will be good for both of you!

I am trying to decide if I will want the walls black and a light floor. I have seen wooden floors but not sure if that is what I want. I want to add some art work, posters and a trophy case to the scene.  I like the idea that My Froggy Stuff had of the free standing punching bag. I have my shampoo bottle ready. I am also thinking about a mirrored wall. I want to be able to have more than one thing going on in the dojo at the same time. So one of the walls will fold out for more space.

Power Team Action Figures

Hey Gang!

I promised Janainah that I would do a post on how to change out the gloved
hands on Power Team Action figures.  I don’t normally do request posts, I am
making an exception in this case!

First let me say as a doll collector, I first started adding action figures (AF) to my
collection when I notice the limited variety and availability of head sculpts in male
dolls and especially AA male dolls. Power team has always had a wide range of male
action figures head sculpts along with a wide selection of ethnic action figure head sculpts.
I would say I own an amount in the 20’s-30’s. Many of mine had gloved hands and
the larger bodies but over time I have replaced hands and bodies.

I too didn’t realize that the heads and hands could be switched until I read it on
someone’s blog.  Maybe Hey It's Muff...if you have check out some of the great
things that Hey It’s Muff has done you should.  It is worth a look!

Down to business-The change!

First, the bodies!  Here are two styles of Power Team bodies.  There may be more.
                                                           Small body---Big Body
I call them the big body and the smaller body.  There has been more variations
with the smaller body that the large one.  The smaller body can come with hands
or gloves and boot feet or regular feet in boots/shoes.  I not sure but I think only
the smaller bodied AF had the camouflage face paint but I’m not sure.
Only the small body doll can the hands be removed on to my knowledge.
If anyone knows any thing different, please let me know and post pictures!!!
The head can be changed on both bodies.

I believe these two styles of bodies were
to compare with the two popular styles of G.I. Joe bodies.
Smaller body Joe and Power Team
Smaller body with boot feet

toe pointing boot feet
Big body Joe and Power team
Older Ken---Power Team--new Articulated Ken for comparison
Power Team can wear Ken shoes and...
 Vice versa-adding shoe options!

Jazz Hands came to help with demo!
 Say hello to Jazz Hands!
 The hands say Hi!

The gloved hands/hands are very easy to remove. They look like this.

Hold the forearm firmly and pull.  Sometime I give it a little twist but not always.

 Jazz Hand are experienced swappers!
Off!

It is more important that you hold it straight to me.  They pop off as easily as they
pop on!  I don’t know if the hands know could take this happening daily for years
without breaking but I have changed the hand on AF maybe once or twice a year.

Now for the head!
What the head looks like off!
The hole for the neck knob that holds the head on!
The neck knob... is the same on small and big body AF.

For the head, I pull it forward a little so that I start to see the bottom of the neck

 and just pull it too!

Off!
You don’t have to heat the neck like you would for a Barbie head to get it off.
My new purchase Mc Hottie who is now named Chet Chang!

He will rival my Tariq (Darius Reed) for fashion style around here.
