Longhouse-- Working On The Layout

Hey Gang!

My Native American dolls were one of the first dolls to move to Johnston.  In my
mind, some of the dolls there live communally and others have house on
the campus.  I have several ideas of what I want the main seating area in my
Native American longhouse to look like.  I know the furniture I want to use...
I think and I will add a few other things. I plan to use a large box and cover
it with some type of covering to make the walls of the room.  Here is my
ruff draft of the room!

Most of the items I am using are things that I have found in thrift stores.
Like the two benches that will be sofas.

And this pie cooler in the back.  I have already used the cabinet in the dinning hall
so I guess I will use something else.
This desk I got from will take me some time to get it right.  I will have to
make draws and other touches to give it the right feel.
the wood stove need a flu and I need to find nic nacs.
Try # 2
I like he rug but I am thinking the walls are too dark. even with colorful art.
These stumps will be tables. I think I could use glass tops. I want the wood to show.
I have two different fabrics I am thinking about for the sofas,. This is choice #1

This is #2 a blanket type style in colors.

Any suggestions?

Snow Day!

Hey Gang!

Playing in the Snow!

The Laurent children have the best of both worlds! Today
school was closed, so Tre', LL, and Stephanie played in the fresh
snow. As much as they love the snow, they love it even more
because they know in three weeks they will be spending Little
Christmas with their grandparents in the warm sunny
Saint Malcolm Island in the Caribbean.
It is a family tradition! Little Christmas is always spent at
the family's island home!

Stephanie: I love the snow! The snowman could use
some work!

Stephanie: He could be fluffier!
LL: Maybe some branches?
Stephanie: Tre', get some more snow!

Tre': Are you the snow boss now?
Stephanie: Tre', get the snow!

LL: What are you up to?
Tre': Getting the snow!

LL: Not Good!

LL: She's gonna kill you!

Tre': Only if she catches me!

What!

Stephanie: UGH! Tre'! That's it for you!!

Tre': Get off me!!
Stephanie: No!!
Tre': Help me, bro!

LL: If I help you, next week you two will gang up on me!
I'm staying out of it.
Tre': Tell Mom Stephie is sitting on me!

LL: Nope! I am out of the whole thing!!

This photo was sent to their grandmother, Camille.
She got an excellent laugh out of it!

Diorama Alert!

Hey Gang!

Inexpensive Diorama Items! I found these items locally but they may be                              for sale in your area too!

Joseph and Hikaru
Renee: This cherry end table will go well with my toile chairs!
Sales clerk to manager: This gentleman would like to know
if this is available in a smaller size?
I am trying to keep my dolly spending low without making
dolls pay the price of the economy!

These Home Depot aprons are gift card holders. They are just the
right size for 1/6 play. I talked a sales clerk into just giving me the
aprons without the gift cards. My dolls didn't know that these were free!

This table is from the dollar store. The Dollar Tree to be more accurate.
It is a dollhouse dining room table.
As you can see, it is too small for a dining room table for Barbie but
it makes a great end table.
These shelve painted or left as they are, makes a great bookshelf.
Add feet to it for height!

You got to love a decorated Christmas tree! This gold balls and gold
pot make it especial! I believe that there are more diorama items to be
found this time of year than any other time! So Keep An Eye Out!

OK Thanks For Looking!

Moxie Jammaz House!

Bargain Moxie Jammaz House!

I saw this Moxie house for sale for $10.00. I wasn't sure about
the proportions but I have bought Bratz things and they worked
out or at least I made them work out. Besides,I have paid that much
for a chair on EBay so I bought the house. The box looked great
and it has some really great pieces that I hoped to use on future posts.

I saw this table and chair set, the coat hook

and this cute sofa and I knew it was for me!

But if I had read the fine print on the box before I
paid for it, I would have known that they were not
included. Bummer! I would have purchased it
but I would have known that they were on
the box for show.

For the money, it wasn't a bad deal. This is what I got.
An outside facade that reminds me of the Barbie Grand Hotel.
I have always liked the Grand Hotel. It is hard to find the complete
hotel for sale and not pay an arm and a leg (and a few toes).
The facade has some really great details too.

It has great detail work and windows and it has
great doors. The are a little short. So I will have to do

some modifications to them.

Outside faux lighting details.

You flip the outside and it becomes the inside.

Great details on the inside too!

Wall sconces.

There are two separate wall units that are in bright white

and not the off white of the facade. The

living room and the bathroom share opposite sides of one unit.

Fireplace , faux table with candles, TV with candles ( do people do that?)

and mirror. They really like mirrors with this set. I counted three mirrors.

The bathroom I think is really cool. Plenty of great details.
I am not sure if I am going to keep it the pink and white.

On the box it is blue. The pink makes it look sooo Barbie.

I can see now that many will buy this house and repaint it.

It really lends itself to that.

Toilet shower and sink. Notice the shelf and toilet paper;

along with faux brass fixtures

There are plenty of little doodads to

put on shelves and other places in the house.

It also comes with a really cool tub with ball and

claw feet

I love this. It is a little small but as with

everything else, I will make it work.

The Kitchen!

The kitchen is shallow as compared to Barbie kitchens.

The frig and the oven doors open not the cabinet doors.

The units are shallow along with the sink. I guess

we are talking pretend here ...so what do you want.

Now this is the part to me that is a little strange.

The Bedroom!
I am not a designer but I have never seen a room done

in bright white and cream white. The wall unit for the bedroom

is in bright white but it is to be in a cream white room???

This is the bed that is to be in that room. It is too small

for Barbie, Moxies, Bratz and for all adult dolls.

What were they thinking? It might be able to be

used as a princess bed for Kelly size dolls.

After I bought the Moxie Jammaz house, I saw in for sale atToys R US for

$39.99 ! Boy, did I score a deal!
