Disney Gals!

A Look At Disney Gals

Last month I purchase several dolls at a thrift store in
hopes to replace bodies of dolls that were having
problems. Many of the dolls purchased were
Disney dolls done by Mattel. In this process
I noted many of the Disney dolls done by Mattel
have been changed. So, I will show you some pictures
of some of the changed Disney dolls.

*Dolls are utilizing two swimsuits for ease of
comparison.

Sleeping Beauty

Winter Frost Sleeping Beauty 2001 and 1992

The first doll (on the right) has eyes that can look
like they were closed or open when hot or cold water
is applied. The newer addition doesn't have these
eyes and she has an open mouth smile. For me, this is a
upgrade! There is another Sleeping Beauty done by Mattel.
Sleeping Beauty Barbie-- I posted about it in an
earlier post. There have also been at least two other
face molds done by Mattel.

Beauty and the Beast Belle

Second release and original Belle

The original Bell ( on the right) had unruly hair. It was
a little too curly. Her complexion was darker too. Oh and
the head was a lot smaller. The new Bell was produces
after the Mattel's balloon head doll era. Most of the new
Princesses now still have that large head. (boooo)Many
of these dolls are also on a belly button body. I have
purchase all but one of these dolls from a thrift stores
at different times. I do believe they are on
their original body.

Ariel
Ariel was the first Disney princess produced on a
smaller than Barbie size body. She was produced on a
1997 Teen Skipper body. A few other Disney dolls
from Peter Pan were produced on a smaller
Skipper(1987) body. In 2006 Mattel produce an even
smaller Ariel.

Two Ariel's side by side.
Note the feet!

Hair is the same color(I am not sure how I feel about
this color) but head molds are different. The feet are
different too the first has the Teen Skipper feet and the
newer doll is shorter with Barbie high heel feet.

She is about the size of the new teen Skipper but with
shapelier legs and high heel feet.

New Skipper and Ariel

There are many book out there on Barbie doll faces

and fashions but what I have discovered recently is that

there aren't a lot of books on Barbie Structures or Mattel

Disney dolls. OK, you doll book writer, get to work!

So, which faces do you like the best?

Last Item From The International Black Doll Show In Philly!

KiKi-Bested Dressed!

When new items come into my home, they seem to go to
certain dolls first. In your home, is it your "go to"
dolls or are they the ones that are demanding?

For me, those dolls are Dominque and KiKi. Dominque didn't
get it this time! It went to KiKi. And as Debarge would
sing "She Wears It Well". It is the last dress from my
purchases at the show.

KiKi in her office!

Poster from a carnival of her mom, Maya Falou, who was
a famous Roubian dancer.

You have to know who you are to wear gold shoes!

Touches from Rouba!

She is a woman with great style!

Joy in her heart!

A love for life and family!

Victorian House!

Victorian House!
When I was a little kid, growing up in South Philly, there
were some things that you didn’t want to be or be called.
The first was a person that picked your nose, the second
was a person who wet your pants and the third was….
“Trash Pickeeer! “ That how we would say it!
Well, I have stayed away from the first two but…you
guessed it! I was picking in the trash the other day. Now,
not just in general but because I saw something that I
could believe was in the trash! I had to back up in my
car and then get out. There were other things on top of it.
I looked like the people living in the dwelling were moving
out (this was the end of the month) and trashing everything
that they weren’t taking with them. I quickly got out of my
car and tried to make room for it in my car. It is gardening
season. So, there is a lot of stuff in my car. But I got it in
with only a little damage which I think I can fix. I didn’t
bring in the house. My honey was home and it is a big item.
I will take it out and look at it when he is not home. But
I did go to the net to look it up.

It is a dollhouse—Barbie Victorian dollhouse. I went on
eBay to look it up…get a feel for the price (if I have
to sell it) and see what other stuff might have came
with it.

To my surprise there are three different Victorian style
houses done for Barbie! One is pink and green (1998),
one is purple and white (2000) and the other is green
and white (I can’t find a year for it). I was in such a
hurry to get in the car I really didn’t take a good look
at it. It was a good thing that I did picked up because
I didn’t get 6 houses a way when another car stopped
and picked up all the kids toys that were still out there!

1998 Victorian House-curved railing

2000 Victorian House-Flat railing
The one I have is white and green! The pink and green
doesn’t have a fireplace. It has a hutch where the fireplace
is. In my search of the web, I can only see pictures of the
outside of the purple and white house. So, I don’t know
what it looks like on the inside or what it came with. I
think they all have an elevator.

The house I found is like this one!
The cheapest I saw the Victorian houses was for $39.99
but that was the starting bid! So I think I got a find! I will
post pictures in a few days. That will give me time to clean
it up. If you have any info, please post it!!!!!

I think it would be really nice with a paint job!

The International Black Doll Show In Philly

Well, I went to the Phila. Black Doll show. You know the one.
You may have read about on D7ana's site--
Philly Collector of Playscale Dolls and Action FiguresWell I purchased a few things I wanted to show you.
D7ana had mentioned that Ms. Hayes would be there, so I
did go looking to see what she might have.

So here she is and here are two pictures of some of her stuff.
I'm sure if I'd given her time, she would have smiled but she
is a very nice women!

This is after my purchase of dolls so they are not on the table
but someone's doll is (smile).

I got there early, just before they opened but not early
enough! I saw a woman there who spent a pretty penny on
Barbie items. Mind you, 90% of the dolls there were
handmade dolls and not fashion dolls. I meet to very nice
vendors that I hope to keep in contact with.

My first purchase! AA Aviator Barbie

I loved her hair cut and her orange scarf. The fact that she
has an articulation body doesn't hurt!

This is one of my favorite faces and I think I have the most
of this head mold in my collection.

My second purchase!Diva Collection

I only have one other Mackie face in my collection, so she
was a must. I feel Ms Hayes' prices were good and I love
what I purchased.

This lady was the first out of the box!

I will do a more elaborate shoot of them both later.
I purchase some clothing too! When purchasing clothing this
days, it is always a crap shot. So many doll bodies and so
many manufacturers. I was lucky! Or should I say
Camille was lucky! She is a happy family Grandma an is
larger that almost all Barbies except for Rosie O'Donnell
who I have not posted...hmmm....any way she got some
cut things in time for the vacation season in St. Malcolm.

A great business look! I don't take enough pictures of
Camille. She is very photogenic.

No Island women would be caught without a nautical print
dress. It is the go to look here!

Camille's granddaughter, Brenda, jumped in for a photo in this
dress! Very lovely...breezy.

All it needed was a purse!

For the cool nights and the end of the season this dress will
do the trick for a night out!

For just strolling the beach at night, this sweater will work!

OK, so that is it! Oh, except for.....

In Honor of the New 4th Pirates of the Caribbean Movie…

In honor of the new fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie-
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, I am posting my
Jack Sparrow action figure. He is one of the few action figures
that I have not removed from the box…yet.

He is by the Zizzle Company.

So that you know, his body is the same as the Will Turner
action figure I previously posted.

He comes wearing a cloth coat, hat, grey vest, cream shirt
without a collar, two belts, tan knickers, brown boots
( that are not removable), compass, a sword and a pistol.
He also wears a bandanna on his head.

I still have a Will Turner available for sale on my
dollpage site.

I haven’t seen the movie yet but hope to do so soon!

Introducing Harold Hill!

When playing with dolls, some of my favorite supporting
charters are off brand dolls. The companies that make them
don't seem to go for the standard look you see in popular dolls
and action figures. Some how, the look that they have seems
to give them even more character!

So, here is Harold Hill. That is the name I have given him.
He is a thrift store fine. He is made by a company called Link
and his head says 2002.

He is the brother of Harry Hill, of “Harry’s Costume Shop ".
Harold is his younger brother. He is very handy
and is a contractor. His motto is that “Your job will be done
on time and on budget!” For him, no job is too big or too small.
He will only hirer trustworthy helpers and is stickler about
keeping you home clean while he works. All of these reasons
have made him successful and sought-after contractor.

He has a trusting face!

With a get it done attitude! Look for him in the doll pages.

The Rebirth of Johnston!

A Brief Johnston History

A few years ago Johnston was deserted. It was literally a ghost town. The military base had been closed for several decades and because of that, business had left. The base closed over a dispute about the land. The person who sold the land didn’t really own it. It was taken too much time and money to fight or settle the case and the government pulled out and moved the base west. The rightful owners died, the train stopped running there and the town crumbled.
All of this was about to change! Forces collided to bring Johnston back to life!
