On The Craft Table! Bodies From China!

 Hey Gang!

I purchased a few clone dolls and bodies from China. The bodies are similar to the older Barbie doll Fashionista body. I ordered one a few years ago but now they have more body styles and complexion.

Warning Nude bodies!

Promo Photo torso type 1

They are normally listed as 1/6-30cm moveable fashion doll bodies.
Here are just a few of the body types and complexions.

So here is what I got!

I ordered these bodies hoping I could use them for some of my off-brand and clone dolls. Many of these dolls have poorly made bodies that have broken over time. Even if these bodies don't last, I can get enough out of them cheaply to continue replacing them.

DBG of Black Doll Enthusiast says the difference between a clone and a competitor (off-brand) doll is that a clone is a copy and a competitor has its own face. Thanks, DBG for the info!

I numbered them and can give you an idea of what doll heads might work for them.

Warning! Nude dolls!

#1 is a very dark brown body. The complexion is similar to SIS Chandra. This body can be used for many darker dolls.

#2 is a dark brown body that reminds me of Kara. This body works for many of my clone and off-brand dolls!

#3 is a medium-brown body that can be used for SIS Grace and older IT Janay

#4 light brown and can be used for SIS Trichelle, Artsy Barbie or Disney Jasmine dolls.

#5 is very light but not White. She is more like Marisa.

OK, Thanks For Looking!

April's Thrift Store Hunt!

My thrift store trip yielded some really good finds! I’m always on the hunt for articulated bodies now. Thrift store are cheaper than purchasing
a new body! I will accept articulated arms only but if I can find legs and arms,
that is a plus. I came across two dolls with articulated arms.

First is a SIS Grace! If your saw my last post, I had a lot of Cara heads.
That is because more of my dolls are Cara's complexion that any of the rest
of the SIS dolls. I could use one or two more Cara bodies but I will take
the Grace.

I think her top is PJs and the botton is some type of pants but it has velcro in the back.
Maybe something attaches to the bottom of the pants.  It seems a bit strange.

You may note that most of these dolls do need hair attention!

I also, found this doll.

Vacation wear?

I have noticed this face sculpt more and more in the
thrift stores. She must have been popular. I purchased her too. I have another
doll with this face but I can always use her body.

The outfit is kinda cute!

This doll was there too.  I am not a fan of My Scene dolls and their large heads.
I could use the outfit and the legs might be part of a future leg transplant.

When I first started collecting dolls, one doll that I saw on the net but never
saw in person was Donny Osmond. I have thought about purchasing him
back then to add to my collection of men but never did. The price always
seemed more that I wanted to spend.

Well, look who I found in the thrift store for $ 3.00.

He went in my basket too. His head seems a little small for his body but the
ones on the net did too!

This was one of the few dolls Mattel made like this. (Some others were
AA Malibu Ken and Rocker Ken) I don't like the whole bent arm thing.
I might put him on a different or smaller (HSM) body but right now
I’m glad to add him.

I found this Teresa. I was on the fence about her but it seems I was in a
spending mood. She went into the basket.
Sadly, she hs the big feet!

Now to move out of the doll section and into the nic-nac section to see
what I can find for dolls there. I saw this table. I thought it would work.
In the basket it goes.

I like the top of it and for a $1.00, I couldn’t pass it up.

Ms. D if you would please show us this item for scale.

Ms. D : It is a great item for any home!

Ms. D:  It could also be a workspace.

This was my best find.

It looks like a doll dresser or a buffet! It is a music box and my dolls will
love this. It is a great dio piece.
Ms. D: Aspiring models, the key to modeling with something like furniture
is to showcase the item and keep it looking classy!  I bet Tyra never told
you that!

OK that’s my haul!

Thanks For Looking.

Re-bodied Janay! Head Swap Doll

Hey Gang!

I first saw the Janay doll while cutting through the Gallery Mall in Center City Phila. She was in of all places, the window of the CVS there.

I stopped dead in my tracks! She had a beautiful face and great makeup! For me, it was unusual to find a doll other than Barbie with a great face screening. The name of the company was Integrity Toys! Hmm…, new!  I picked up the box and saw other dolls in the line but the store only had this one. I purchased her and took her home happily.

When I opened the box the pamphlet inside showed several dolls in many different outfits.
A black doll, an Asian doll, and a Hispanic doll. There was a phone number on the
pamphlet, so I called it. I have a gift shop in Baltimore. It may have been black-owned.
The shop was very busy and I was only able to ask a few questions before the person
had to take care of other customers in the store. As time went on I saw more and more
dolls from Integrity Toys in the area toy stores. Then it stopped! I didn't know why?
I couldn't find the phone number I had for the company. Poor Janay! I thought she had
gone under. But she hadn't she reappeared online!

Out of the box!
Janay
Jordan

I am not sure who owns the company anymore but they are doing new and different
things. I am waiting on a new doll I recently purchased from Integrity Toys.
I will post her when I do!
Re-bodied Janay

Right now you are looking at one of the first Janays faces that Integrity Toys did. This is
the one without the smile. They made this same face with a smile. I have re-bodied
or head-swapped her onto a SIS Grace body. She is enjoying a fine spring day!

In the meadow!
OK! Next time I will remove the stand.

I always loved her hairstyle and makeup!
The old Janay had the old Candi body. Maybe I'll do a comparison later!
The sweetest expression! Nothing like all those pouty
mouthed dolls that look mean and constipated!
In a different outfit. This way she can wear more things.
The new body makes her look extremely leggy!

OK, Thanks For Looking!

Viewer's Vote Is!

The Vote Is In!

So the poll has ended and the viewers voted for
the Pop Life Christie body --72%! So I decided to do a photo
shot of Julia on the new body! Here are the shots.
Julia Sporty and Edgy!

Here she is on one of my favorite dress that I liked to see
her in. But she doesn't look the same. There were some
differences when I put Julia on the belly button body. Most
clothes she can still fit except for one skirt and some of the slim
pants. But the good out wieghted the bad but there were big
changes in what she could wear and how
I felt about her in it on the Pop Life body! Most of the
clothes and almost all of the pants are a little short for the
Pop Life body. Her hands are too large to fit in the openings
of shirt and jacket sleeves too. Pop Life dolls are taller than
regular Barbies and are taller than some of the male dolls
I have. On the Pop Life body she was now too tall for her love
interest. Not Good. So for a while she was on the Pop Life body.
I couldn't say for sure if she would stay there. I didn't know
what I would do with the Pop Life Christie head. Some how
that face looked swollen on other bodies.

To bad that the Fashionista doll only comes in one AA
complexion which is lighter than many other AA dolls.
Then while surfing the net I got and idea! I saw other dolls
that had the Fashionista hands on belly bottom bodies.
There was the 2nd wave Fashion fever dolls. I think that
they had the short torso. I didn't want that. I saw the SIS
Stylin' Hair dolls . They were perfect for what I
wanted but I had to act fast.
This time of year, all the black dolls fly out of the stores
in black neighborhoods and in some white neighborhoods too.
The ratio of black dolls in a Mattel shipment is low to begin with.
Store can't just order the Black dolls that they are out of; they
have to order a mixed box. That may mean on many doll orders
that only 2 of 14 dolls in the box are black. To make matters
worse many toy store do not do much ordering for the first 6-8
weeks after Xmas. So I had to break my promise and spend
money that I was holding out on. I am quite pleased with the
results.

Here is Julia and KiKi on their new bodies!
These ladies would not wear these outfits or at least not
like this. I have to make some changes!
I like the hands on them now.
Getting the head off was a pill with the new head knob!!
Ah this is more like it! Julia's head has found a home!
So while I respect and acknowledge your vote, I do, I do, I do!
Here is the final Julia.
