Quick Post-I Just Love a good Head Swap!

Hey Gang!

Popping in to show you my latest head swap!  I think I mention that
I purchased a second Ron Weasley doll when it was on sale for $2.00!
You gotta that all the Harry Potter dolls have good articulation! I was
only hoping that their complexion would have match other dolls of
similar size!

I recently found a Disney Store High School musical #3 Troy doll!
He doesn't have the articulation of Ron and the head (you can't tell it from
this photo) sits on the body in such a way that he appears to always be
looking down like he is shy!
I was able to swap Troys head onto Ron Weasley's body!  This made it so
that he is no longer looking down and has articulation. Yeah!

Jimmy: Hey Gang! I can wave!
I can now interact with way more people!

OK, Thanks For Looking!

May is Disney Month! Head Swaps-The Girls!

Hey Gang!

I got this idea from Jeanie of Adventures In Barbieville . She is a fount of
inspiration for me! She mention to me that she recently got disney dolls
for body swap but had a mishap in removing one of the heads. So let's talk
about Disney doll heads, bodies and buying them aftermarket or used!

The upside and downside of Disney dolls.

The upside!
For me, while articulated Barbie bodies are harder for me to find in thrift
stores (and boy do I miss thrift stores) articulated Disney bodies were not!
There are alway articulated Disney dolls on Facebook too. For me, the neck
knobs are a little more tricky and maybe... a little thinner too!  Because of this,
you have to be careful when removing the head of and when purchasing Disney
dolls aftermarket (used doll).

Warning you are about to see nude dolls!

The body!

This one of the basic bodies. There is another with a different kind of knees and feet!
The two knees and feet!

Compared Disney body to Mattel body.
 Shoulder to knee!
Disney articulated --Mattel Fashionista
Disney neck knob to Mattel neck knob
Mattel is a longer neck but the neck on the Disney body is long enough to not look
too short with a Mattle head.
The Disney knee has a click knee and Mattel has a fashionista knee.
Here is the most important part to know the dics of the neck knob is larger on the
Disney doll than on the Mattel doll. Making the head a little harder to get off
and on the neck than a Mattel!
Note you can't see the hole in the neck.

Now there are several manufacturers that make dolls for Disney.  Removing
the head of Disney or any doll to me is a heat the head with a hair dryer move!
You really want to heat the head before attempting to remove it.  By this I mean
I use the dryer to heat the base of the head until it is slightly soft and will make
it easier to remove. If you can feel it soften you are doing good.

You may need to heat it more that once if it starts to cool.  I like to use my pointy
scissors in this process too. I like to cover the hair (will talk about the hair in
another post) and move the opening of the head over the top of the head knob
carefully. Then I may use my pointy scissors to pry the head to above the round
top of round disc. Running it around the edge.

It is much easier to get the heard off the two hooks at the of the knob than a
Mattel head where the hook and stem are longer. Like with Mattel neck knobs
I remove the hooks to make it easier if a want to do another swap.
 Before!
After!

Many of the newer Mattel dolls are a light complexion.
Glinda the Good Witch has bendable elbows and click knees but she could go
on a Disney articulated body.
Made to move purple top is kinda scarce.  Many of the articulated Disney doll
bodies are the right complexion to fill the gap! I first used Mulan's body for a
few dolls!
Mulan
Mulan and Top Model Summer
 Summer on Mulan body!
 Stars Doll on Mulan
 Asian Barbie on Mulan
Asian Bacis Barbie on Mulan
Several different bodies can work!  I think the yellow is Bell,
purple is Rapunzel and blue is Cinderella.
The Birds Barbie and Fashionista #30
Other dolls on Disney bodies!

Mattel Pocahontas head on Disney Pocahontas body!
Mattel Nakima head on a Disney Jasmine body.  She was move to a Pocahontas
body so that she too she has the arm tattoo also.
Curvy fashionista Ric Rac on Tiana body.
Petite Fashionista crazy for coral head and Fashion Fever Tia head

After market purchases

When I purchase a Disney doll or any doll online, I ask about
the head, hair, neck, body, hands and feet! A picture taken is a certain way
may hide what will obviously be a flaw in person. Am I saying the seller
is trying to pawn off a flawed doll on you?  No, there is a chance that they
might not have noticed. Your asking will make them look and if there is
an issue when the doll arrives, you have a leg to stand on! If in checking
they say "oh wow, there is a problem, you can if you still want it,  negotiate
a better price. Sometimes you only want the head so it is still OK!

When purchasing from a thrift store, my school of thought is the same with
any thrift store purchases. Anything I see I even kinda like goes in the cart!
There is nothing worse than seeing something you thought about in some else's
cart. Put it in the cart and review it before checkout.

Until I have looked all over the store I don't thin out my cart! After I am sure I
have seen everything, I now go thought the cart and check for issues with
everything in the cart.  Problem that can't be fixes are in the top little area of
the cart to go back.  "Sure shots" are put in the front of the cart and "iffy in the
back. I then put back the issues items, access again the iffy" and total my cost.
Hopefully I am not over! If I am, then what do I really want or need?

So the Disney neck on the left is cracked and the knob is missing. The neck on
the right is Mattel and the knob is missing.
Crack neck that wasn't notice until I got home and tried to do a head swap.
 Side view!

You can glue a neck knob of Mattel and Disney dolls. I can do some repairs but
it is better to know that you have to do it that to discover it.
BTW, on articulated Disney bodies the forearm with hand can be removed with a
little work!

Will post for the boys later! Stay tuned.

OK, Thanks For Looking!

Last Post For The Year!

Hey Gang!

I hope to have a lot of posts coming up!  Santa got me a new
camera for Christmas! I no longer have to share a camera with
my husband!  That also means I better know where my camera
is and not ask him did he see it. Now all I need is a new computer!

I've been work off of a tablet lateley.  My tablet is a lot faster than
my old computer but it can do everything. I can't upload pictures
with the tablet and my computer is on it's last leg! So I'm at the
libray posting!

I want to show you my last head swaps for 2013! Not that I don't
have more head swaps than I'm showing here but these are the
last that I will show.

The Girls!

I've had this doll a long time but she hasn't got much play time
until now. She is integrity toys Alysa doll with the Candi headsculpt but I
don't know which one.

This is Pilar.  She is  Brenda's best friend and a hairdresser too! They
met in hairdressing school.  Pilar doesn't pull any punches and speaks
her mind.
She can now move like I want her to and as she needs to for doing hair.
She is on a Disney Jasmine body.  Here she is with another Integrity Toys
Alysa doll.
She is awaiting a Jasmine body.  She eyes Pilar enviously. The Jasmine
head will be for sale on the doll page if you are interested.

I have put my America doll on a Skipper body.  She has bendable legs
but is awaiting bendable arms. She is originally a BFF Aliesha doll.
This is her second body swap.

She will make a great teen in an upcoming storylilne.
m
It will also give her more cothing options.

I rebodied my Twilight Jabcob onto a Hunter Huntsman body.
It isn't a prefect complexion match but it is better than nothing.  This body is
shorter that Ken dolls.  It is about the size of the Liv doll Jake. I did have to
return this doll because the arm broke off at the elbow.  So be warned! Also,
he was not an easy head swap!  The neck is smaller than Ken dolls.  In
addition.  The knob is longer.  I had to cut it to make the head fit.  I am
happy with him for now.  He keeps his name Jabob and will be the brother
of Rae.

The clothing and feel of the body works well with the Jacob outdoor kind of thing!
If you read this post anywhere other than

It is a fake!!! Run!!
I took him outside for some shots with the new camera.
 Resting on a rock!
 He loves the outdoors!

Jacob: WOW, this was a workout!  I need to rest.  I never been here before.
It's a good thing I wore my climbing boots!

OK, Thanks For Looking and Happy New Year!

Fiona Rebodied For The Second Time!

So many of you bloggers out there have touted the merits
of the Liv body, that even a disbeliever like me was willing
to give it a try if the body could be had at a good price. Well
I finally found a Liv doll at a....price I could live with. She
was on sale for $7.99. Making this the last purchase for the
month of June.

Hayden here has graciously volunteered her body for a
rebody opportunity! So now that I have the doll and have
taken her out of the box, the next question is who should
be rebodied? I had several dolls to choose from but the
one who receive this honor was Fiona.

Hayden awaiting the reboding.

Now you may remember Fiona from one of my first few
post and my first attempt at a diorama. She is a Toy
Biz Eowyn doll who I had rebodied onto a Mattel
Scooby Doo Velma Teen Skipper body. The original
doll had a action figure body which I really hated! I
liked that old Skipper body much better than the
original. She has a very pale complexion and she need a
pale body. She also needed to be shorter than Ian,her
husband, who is shorter than Ken size. She still didn't
get a lot of photo or play time because she wasn't very
poseable then. So let's hope for more photo time for Fi

Two dolls getting to know each other before
the swap! Fi wonders how she managed
to do anything with such a large head.

If you read my blog, you will know that I am not a
fan of the large head dolls, so I don't see myself keeping
the head at all. Look for it on my Dollpage site in
the near future. The clothes and shoes on this doll
are not too bad and will be kept. I also like the fact that the
earrings come out easy too. I keep them also.

I do like this head knob better than Mattel's. I always cut
those hooks off anyway. I have been saved a step! One
other note, when I placed the head on its' new body, there
wasn't a lot of play in the neck and head that I get with
Mattel bodies. Big plus!

Fi getting adjusted to the new body.

Not bad. The head went on smoothly. No forcing
required. A plus! Fi seemed to like it. She is now
able to touch her head and see her hands.

Stretch out a little from time to time.
I think I am beginning to like this body.

Fiona: Ms. Leo, I don't know about these clothes! I don't
think they are me. Can I fit some of my old outfits?

Ms. Leo: I think so. We will try a few of them on later.
These shoes should work for you and maybe the top. I
don't thing the shorts are you. Your figure does look
more like you and more mature than on that Skipper
body.

Fiona: Agreed! What will happen to my old body?

Ms. Leo: It will go in the body box. One never knows!

Ms. Leo: I can put the white dress back on you.
It should look good with those shoes.

Fi feeling sassy in her new body!

Ms.Leo: Do you thing Ian will notice the change?
Fiona: Deary, he's a man!
Doll and woman giggle!
