The Part Of.....

Hey Gang!

Like the say in the soap operas, the part of Hae will now be played by.....
not the Sparkle Princess Mulan below. I'm changing charters.

Sparkle Princess Mulan

I wasn't pleased by the smug smile on that version of Mulan.  She may appear
later as another character. She will now be Amara.

Hae will now be played by this version of Mulan.

She is the 1997 Hearts of Honor Mulan.

I like her smile better. There are many versions of Mulan. I own five.
The two others by Mattel...

Sparkle Princess Mulan and Warrior Princess Mulan and two are by Disney.
One is the Ballerina Mulan.

 Ballerina Mulan 2004
I put her on a Liv doll body.
The other is a Disney Store version of the doll that ran from about 2006-2010

Hi! My name is Suzie.
Suzie is a new character.

All of these dolls have been rebodied last year. That was my big year for reboding.
I still have a few AA dolls that need new bodies but almost all of My Asian and
Native American dolls have been rebodied.  My biggest project will be reboding
all the guys.  I done a few here and there but the majority of my Mattel males
need an articulated body.

So here is the new Hae! She is on a Mattel BB body with articulated elbows and
3 click knees. This is one of my favorite bodies.
After reviewing many of the Disney dolls for this post, I think I want more of Mulan's
costumes.

Her story is coming soon!

OK, Thanks For Looking!

Li Shang

You might have noticed from my blog that I have more that one Mulan doll!
What you didn’t know is that I have two Li Shang dolls also! My latest coming
in the mail today! I purchase him nude on eBay. I would have like to have
his outfit but then it would be something else taking up space around here!
It worked out best the way it is!

So, Ms Leo why do you have two Li Shang dolls? First, because they are
different, second because the new one was cheap and third because a dang
well please!

I found it interesting that Disney does one doll by Mattel and then will produce
another version of the same doll with another company. I don’t have the non-Mattel
doll’s box, so I can say what the name of the company of the second doll is.
Mattel will have it's name on many parts of the doll it makes.  Others won't go that far
and may only put the company name on one place like the head or the body. Sadly,
neither part had it on this doll.  Often the non-Mattel dolls don’t look as
good and/or has a poorer quality body. But I can't say that with Li Shang.
So let’s give these guys a good look!

Here is a boxed picture of the Mattel doll.

I can’t show you my doll's picture because my dolls get de-boxed quickly.

The Mattel doll has the gift giving arms and articulated legs.
Arms

Legs

Will I find a new body for him? Maybe, but he Isn’t high on the body list
right now. He is quite handsome!

He has a mischievous smirk on his face. I have had fun playing with him!
He has a rub on one eyebrow from years of play. He has soft brown
eyes and a tan rosy complexion.  He is a bit of a rascal around here.
I haven’t purchased any new clothing for him in all the time I‘ve had him
nor have I taken him out of his outfit. So that will have to change! Feel
free to comment and suggest some outfits! Links with pictures are
especially helpful.

Here is the non-Mattel doll boxed

What you can’t tell for that picture is that this doll has articulated arms
but not legs! Wow, put them together and you will have a whole articulated doll!
 Oh well!

Arm

Legs

The Face!  He too is handsome but in a more rugged way!

He has a different face sculpt. He has black eyes, a larger slightly wider
face and the lips are slightly fuller and more nude that then the rosy color
of the Mattel version. His complexion is tan rather than the rosy compexion
of the Mattel and his facial expression is friendly and not mischievous.
His nose is straighter too.

Close up of Faces.

Mattel: I'm cuter!

Profile

Hands

Mattel: Hey, what are you doing back there!

Warning! Nude Doll Shots Coming!

Mattel hasn’t thought that many men need undies!

The feet are …
Non- Mattel                                 Mattel

you guessed it …wider too!
Ok, that's it!

Tour of the Pacific Rim Dress Rehearsal

The Dress Rehearsal!
This is the dress rehearsal for the Korean dance to take place at the Chinese New Year Festival in Johnsontown. Hae has taught Ing the dance. Now Ing and Mulan are having a dress rehearsal. They are wearing traditional dresses for their dance. Mulan has had these dresses sent to her by her aunt who still lives in Korea. The Hanbok (South Korea) or Chosŏn-ot (North Korea) is the traditional dress worn in Korea. It has vibrant colors and simple lines. The hanbok or Chosŏn-ot has two parts...the jeogori and the chima. The jeogori is the upper part blouse/jacket and the chima is the skirt. A sokchima is the under slip or petticoat worn with the chima.

This is not a traditional Korean dance but one she learned at a dance school in Korea. This is the first time Mulan is preformed the dance in the U.S. and it is very important to her.
Ing has been a good student and learned the dance well! They both move gracefully!  Mulan loves this part with the fans! The fans add something special to the dance. Mulan would have loved to performed the Buchaechum. She learned that too but it requires more women to perform that dance. This is not quite the Buchaechum, fan dance of Korea, but it is beautiful. The music rises! The dance is complete!
They both think that the dance will be received well!
