Big Guy Need Play Too!

 Hey Gang!

Since Mattel released the Broad Superman(2016) and followed it up with the Broad Ken doll(2017), Albus Dumbledore(2018), and Hagrid(2020), big guys are making their way into doll collections. Many people are willing to pay big money for the Broad Merman doll. He is on my wish list!

I've seen many posts with photos of  Looks Ken # 18. So I think some version of the big guy is here to stay!

In the beginning, many people rebodied the broad Ken's head onto regular-size Ken bodies for articulation and more clothing options. With the articulation of Dumbledore's body, those dolls that matched his complexion received Dumbledore's body. 

This is my Zhang! He is a Fashionista Ken #115 on Dumbledore's body! Other dolls may have gotten the new The Looks Ken # 18 guy body.

So the articulation for big guys is not as much of an issue. I can't wait to see an articulated AA broad body! 

When it comes to clothing, many are finding that they can use those 80's Ken clothes on their broad  Ken dolls. Hersey in some of my 80s Ken clothes.

There are now Etsy shops that have a large (no pun intended) selection of Hagrid and broad Ken doll clothes and are willing to do custom orders for your dolls. I asked OlhaDollsFashion to make my Hagrid a Kilt and she did! (2021) 

She got tons of orders for the kilt after making mine! DollsViewPoint has a good selection for big guys like Hagrid. Here is Hagrid(my Sean) in his robe and bottoms...

but DollsViewPoint has things for Big and Beautiful Dasia and Curvy Barbies too!

While the broad Ken, Dumbledore, and Hadrid are on the medium end big guys, Encantro Felix, Maui, and Mr. Increable are on the larger end of the big body dolls. 

I will post about those big guys at a later time. This post is on male dolls shorter than the standard-size Ken doll with a stocky body(11 inches).

Some refer to him as an action figure and others as a doll.  I think he is a doll.

He is described as a single everyday Cleveland guy struggling to stay financially and romantically afloat.

With the jacket off you can see that his shirt and pants are one piece.

The collar has that old-school Mattel feel also. It is made of flannel.

Drew: Ms. Leo, I'm unsure I'm ready to reveal myself! Can I borrow these shorts to wear?

 Ms. Leo: No, those are Hagrid's shorts.  They are too long on you!

He comes with socks and shoes. 

Most dolls that have glasses art attached.  If they are attached, there is only one hole on each side of the head to attach the glasses. This doll has two.

One reason I got these two is I think they can share clothes.

I have heard one blogger say that this doll was as ugly as a mud fence! I am sure that is a Southern expression.  I don't think they were trying to make him as pretty as Ken. I think he has a common look. There are those types of people in the world too!

From the back, you can see that the shorts have pockets and there are slits in the back of the shoes.

He is supposed to look like the average guy. The box reads: Lammily male doll is created according to the proportions of the average 19-year-old man. So I guess that means the average 19 year man has a long torso with short legs? The box also reads: He may not have a six-pack, but he has a fantastic sense of humor." Now where have we heard that before. What does he look like? He will be our vet, Dr. Reed.

Drew's feet are smaller than the Lammily doll's feet.

As compared to Ken Doll

Drew's feet are smaller than Ken's.

Lammily male doll's fee are larger than Ken doll's is.  So he can't wear Ken doll's shoes.

Lammily male's feet are closer to GI Joe's feet.

Even though the bodies are different shapes, they can share clothes but not shoes.

May Is Disney Month and Pacific Islander Month! Maui Action Figure/Doll!

 Hey Gang!

So as you might remember, I purchase the Moana doll quite a while back.  A few months after that I saw the Moana and Maui set show up at my local Target but I never saw the Maui doll/action figure by itself.. A few years later, like the beast doll, I started to see Maui show up on Ebay for quite a lot of money. I never though I could use him in my Johnston collection of character because of his body shape and lack of outfits. 

Maui thinks that tattoos are as good as clothes! Maui, it is too cold here to just wear this outfit in the winter in Johnston!

About Maui!

Maui the demigod comes with fishhook swinging action and says 10 phrases from Disney's Moana movie. He is somewhat Poseable. His arms move at elbow but not the knees or feet. His head doesn’t turn either. He has a stubby body and feet.

My Maui!

 Lately Maui has reduce in price so I got one. I got mine used on ebay for $5.00! He wasn't complete as you can see.

I first saw him used in this diorama Maui .(check out the link) Clothes and shoes were sourced for him. He looked interesting here. 

Then saw him used as an OOAK Felix doll. See this video by CupcakeSquad! I stated the video from where Maui was being transformed.

The eyes and face were soften and it gives him a better look. I hope to make him  some outfits and have him as boyfriend for one of my plus size girls.
