Becoming Queenie Jenkins!

 Hey Gang!

Granny Queenie and her great granddaughter LaToya are having lunch in the park!

Queenie looks up at the sunshine thinks to herself "look at the day the lord has made!"  

Just then a handsome young man walks by.  Malik: Good afternoon Queen! How are you this fine day?

Queenie: Just fine young man and you?

Malik: I am well Queen!  Enjoy the rest of the day and don't forget to hydrate!

Queen thinks to herself "If I were fifty years younger..."'

LaToya: Did you know him Granny?

Queenie: No honey, I don't know him.

LaToya: But he knows your name! He called you Queen!

Queenie: Oh honey, it just a term of endearment!

LaToya: A what?

Queenie: A nickname or a pet name!  He probably calls all women or all women my age Queen.

LaToya: Oh! Well I have our lunch!  That food cart is great!

The eat their meals.

Queenie: Well that hit the spot!

LaToya: I wonder if she has ice cream today!

LaToya: She makes the best ice cream! At least it is the best I have had!

Queenie: The best ice cream I have ever had was at this Church up the road for the town I grew up in! She smiles as she thinks about the ice cream.

LaToya: Really? Like... you have been around for a long time! It was the best in all your years?

Queenie: I'm 95 years young and it was the best I have had!  Those old church sisters could cook! They churned the ice cream by hand in the kitchen of the church! Oh, and fried chicken!

LaToya: They didn't get if from the store?

Queenie: Honey, ice cream in the store ...ice in general is a modern thing! We had and ice box and not a refrigerator when I was a child. And we were considered well off!  A man came and we bought a block of ice and put it in the ice box to keep things cold. Those church women used real cream from the top of the milk to make the ice cream.

LaToya: WOW!

Queenie: It tasted sooo much better than anything you can get from the store!

Queenie: You better catch her before she leaves!

Granny Queen!

I have had the idea for Granny Queen for a while. It is her job to keep the family together and grounded. She lives with her granddaughter and her great granddaughter!  She also spends time with other granddaughters too. She augments her retirement by tutoring and hand-knitting sweaters that her granddaughter sells them online for her.

How she started! This was a thrift store doll that didn't sell! She has been sitting around for a few years!

She said that she wanted to be Queenie. So...

Fixes I Will Have To Do!

Hey Gang!

The humid weather effect the paint on one of my repaints and another doll's
hair paint will also need repair!

 Zhang and Ryan!

 These rubs/scratches on my doll who is probably less than a year old!

 I love my Ryan repaint and I was sad to find him this way!  I can repaint the eye!
This may be harder that find a other head and repainting the hair, eyebrows and beard.

So I started withn Zhang! I thought he was an easier fix! I used a q-tip to rub

black paint into the area and blend it in and I darkened the whole close cut area.

After that I sealed!

 Zhang turned out well!

Next up is Ryan!  I had to look through my head and body box.  I found another
Ryan head that I repainted like the other!

While I had the paint out! I want to make a redheaded Chelsea boy! So I took a
brunette and painted him!

 Mattel doesn't do many redheads!

 He is Ryan's baby brother Roy!

I found him that the head and body box and repainted him too! 

I don't know what I will do with him but here he is!

 He need a little more cleanup. He can be a new character!

 I got an Inferno doll in my travels for $5.00 at Forman Mills!

I didn't like the painted on pants so I move him to an old Fashionista Ken articulated body!

He will get more play time on this body and  plan to name him Carlos!

I will work out the rest of his story.  It was easy to get the head on this body

and he needs a little more work to get the head on a little lower!

Camping Fun Ken Doll for $2.00!

Hey Gang!

Sorry about Disney Month!  May was just full of problems!  I could just
continue it into June but I will just move on into what I wanted to do
for June! I will draft all Disney post for next year and hope to have three
to five a week.

So when you are in a store and the have a Ken doll like this one marked
down to $2.00 do you buy it?

 I am I crazy! Of course you do!

 I first saw him for $4.00 and meant to get him then but I got sidetracked.
So for $2.00. He was in my hand as I searched for the other things I came
into Walmart to get!

He is worth $2.00 just for the outfit!

Here is the doll out of the box! As you can guess, the packaging is in 

the can outside of the store!

Now... I already have two dolls with this face and hair sculpt and one of them has
a similar complexion. 

Jude.... who has the headsculpt

and Ramone' who has the headsculpt and complexion. The Camping Ken is darker
than the normal complexion many of the older Fashionista Ken.

He has a shirt tee shirt combo shirt that Velcros in the back. It is green and pale
green/yellow plaid and a orange print tee shirt underneath.

The shirt's combo tee has a bear on the front.

He has on green camo shorts that are made of cotton and have an elastic waist.

He has brown sneaker/boots.

He came with binoculars that are gray.

Since I already have two normal size ken dolls with the headsculpt that size, I thought
it might be good to have a slim guy that I ken have as a teen. I decide to use the body
of my Plaid on Point doll.

So I put the Camping Fun Ken's head on the slim body. Although the body is
for an AA doll the complexion fits Camping Fun Ken.

He can still wear the close but they fit him a little different.

I tried it on Ron and he looks cute in it too!

It compliments his red hair.
