Teaching Mahjong and Dragon Dance!

Hey Gang!

A lot is going on in preparing for the Chinese New Year.

Miyo is teaching a few people to play Mahjong.

Miyo: This game is mostly played with three or four players. First, you mix the tiles face down, sort of like shuffling the deck.

Then you will draw thirteen tiles. 

Li Li: This seems complicated! 

Jimin: I don't think it is once you learn the rules.

Geremy: I should have brought a pen!

Miyu: This game is a lot of fun! I taught my son, Chet, to play when he was little. 

Chet: We just taught my young daughter!

Mahjong game set!

I found this Mahjong set for my dolls. It is 1/12 scale. 

Table

You will need to separate the tiles. It will take a little work, and they don't all fit on the table at once.

Here you can see I popped out about one and a half sections and the table appears full.

I hope to make a bigger table and a case for this set.

Sunny: Hey, I heard the dragon costume has arrived! They are doing a dress practice!

Everyone leave to see the practice!

Chang'e: WOW! They look pretty good!

Connie: Yeah, I had my doubts but yes! They look pretty good!

 purchase this dragon puppet because I want to have a couple of dolls to the Dragon Dance! I have a post of them trying to practice. 

I cut off the strings and put pants on the guys I wanted doing the dance.

Update! Fashion Influencer Naturalistas 11.5-inch Grace Articulated Fashion Doll!

Hey Gang!

My doll has arrived! You get the impression from photos and information on the doll that she is articulated.  Grace is poseable with 7 points of articulation but her articulation isn't knees or ankles that bend.

I just saw the Naturalistas 11.5-inch Grace Fashion Influencer Doll! I was thinking about purchasing the Laya doll first because her hair is more like mine now that I let my perm grow out. When I saw this doll and realize she was articulated and had so many accessories, I knew she was for me! She is described as having medium Brown Skin Tone and 4B Textured Hair. I not sure if the 4b is referring to the wigs or the doll. She is also said to be a "Protective Style enthusiast" --translation: wearing wigs, braids or other styles to protect hair from brakeage.

Her Bio Say:

Grace is a college graduate, D.C. native, journalist, and popular social media influencer.  Grace started her career in the newsroom where she was often required to straighten her hair.

(boo,boo! I see a lawsuit!)

She reminds me of the Jazz Baby Barbie doll with a modern spin!

Like Jazz baby she comes with wigs and a sculpted hair style head!

Here are my photos of the doll and her accessories. The last accessories are the photo light stand, laptop, phone, sunglasses and handbag 

The wigs are like s Liv doll wigs but smaller.

The purse is like you one you might find in any doll line but better quality than a cheap line.

The sun glasses are the the ones you find with the Audrey Hepburn Holly Golightly Breakfast at Tiffany's Barbie.

Here is the laptop compared to  to other laptops. Influencer in the middle.

While you can find many of the other accessories sold with other dolls, the light stand is a new item for fashion dolls!

So as I said, she has arrived! Her clothes and accessories are really good! The are to me of the quality of "Old Mattel".

Doll Comparison!

Here is what she and her body looks like out of clothes and in comparison to other dolls!

Her hair is actually sculpted and not just painted on like Jazz Baby.

I am not sure if it can be removed like some of the Ken dolls with sculpted hair.

Her face is super cute!

Now for the body!

As you can see only the arms are articulated

So to compare, I am using these dolls: Made to Move, Chang'e, (the next two doll are on revise bodies) Fresh Doll, and MGA Yasim, and SIS Chandra.

Her torso is smaller and breast are closer together. Legs are longer feet and hands are larger.

Feet and hands are large on both these dolls and they can wear each others shoes. They both have a small waist. The could share clothes.

The Yasim  on the fresh doll body has smaller feet. The fresh doll head on the MGA body has feet close to the size of Infuencer.

All of these dolls have large hands.

The MGA doll and the Chang'e have feet close to the same size for shoe sharing.

Presents For Me With My Gift Card!

 Hey Gang!

I purchased a few things for me! It was time and these things were items I wanted to purchase for a while. I earned a gift card and used it for these dolls!

Ken fashionistas doll #184, 

Hispanic males are always a good add to my collection.

 orange cuffed pants, white deck shoes.

He has brunette cropped hair, floral Hawaiian shirt.

Out of the box the clothes are well made.  The back of the shirt is printed too.

He is as handsome in person as his promo photos.

The pants are a little high water but they still work.

The sneaker are the basic Ken sneakers.

He has the basic five points of articulation. 

Warning nude dolls!

I looked at a few bodies but the Cheerleader body was the best fit.

Next up is Big Dreams Big City Brooklyn!

She has a wonderful outfit that includes a silver-checkered top and denim skirt!

When I saw her in the store I thought she was very cute and I thought she used the 

Fashionista "Kim" headsculpt but I was wrong about that! She is a new headsculpt.

Her hair and baby hair edges offer a great look! 

There are four or five version of Brooklyn. Some have the top knot and some have her 

hair down. It had me wondering if the hair was braided different for the up and down doos.

 

OK, back to this doll! She has a very cute purse!

I was OK with everything except these jelly boots!  Mattel, who wears jelly boots?

Turns out it is a thing too! Jelly shoes/sandals and boots are in for 2022! 

Bright color jellies are a way to add color! The suggestion is to wear them with socks!

I guess that means sandals and socks are OK now too!

I want to get the Lyla doll in this line too!

I think she needs boots the color of the purse to  make it work.

In promo photos the top know is done better than it is in person! They should have used a black band.

I took her hair down and it is pretty full and the baby hair is cute!

Brooklyn on a petite body! I think  it works for her!

MGA's Dream Ella-Yasmin doll!

"I am a doctor Yasmin fashion doll". This is how the package read.

She is Barbie size...well at least in height.

Close-up! She has a sweet intelligent face!

The doll includes scrubs uniform and stethoscope.

Out of the box....

She has the five points of articulation at the arms and legs.

They move up and down and to the sides.

Here head moves side to side but not up and down. 

I like her hair. It is long and crimped 

and pulled back from her face.

There is a lot of detail in her top.  It is form fitted.

She has white pants and sneakers.

The quality is great on the pants and they are similar to the Fresh Doll pants.

Her hair is very long!  You can see the crimps in the photos.

From the back. Her hair is past her hips.

So lets compare her body to a few other dolls! Here head is not as large as some and not 

as small as others.

You can see here that Yasim's head is larger.

Now looking at the bodies (  is on a MTM Curvy body) the body is thicker than 

some doll but not as much as others too! 

She is thicker than my Chang'e

Wild Heart body 

Her waist is as small but not her hips or breast.

Thighs and but are smaller than Wild Heart body

I thought when I saw her in the store that her body would be close to either Fresh dolls

or Pretty Girls but it is different.  Her waist is smaller than fresh dolls with a more

defined waist.  

Her torso is not as long as the pretty girls. Her hips are some what

smaller than both.

With any doll body Feet and shoes for them can make a difference. 

So lets look closer at the feet.

Her feet are closed to Chang'e feet.  Debbie of Black Doll Collecting told me 

Yasmin can fit first wave Monster High doll shoes.

Yasmin has more of and arch to her feet than Wild Hearts Crew dolls

Fresh doll, Yasmin and Pretty Girls feet.

Fresh doll body and Yasmin body! They are somewhat close.

The neck knobs are different.

On Fresh Doll body in her original body she looks pretty good!

It won't close in the back though.
