The Ancestor’s Room

Let KiKi Show You Her
The Ancestor’s Room!

The new house is still under major construction.
There was a long debate and two family meetings before the
Laurents decide to move and when they were going to move.
They are all starting new. They sold their expensive
condo in Center City and moved to Johnsonton. In a house
that will have five bathrooms only one and a half is done.
But they had less space in Center City and survived. This
is a very busy time for the whole family. KiKi is leaving her
old job as buyer and assistant manager in a department
store in Metropolitan. The younger kids are starting a
new school. The old children are starting their careers, and
Terrence will be starting his new position at the hospital.

The only thing that comes close to being finished
is the Ancestor’s Room. This is very important to KiKi.
For years she and her family have lived without one. It is
very important to her that this room be the first room done.
It provides for the spiritual health of the family. The wall
and ceiling are finished. KiKi would love to show the room
thus far. She has just received the first items that must occupy
the ancestor’s room.

This room will hold heirloom from both KiKi and
Terrance’s family. It is a room for meditation and reflection.
It is a place where the ancestors can comfort and inspire.
It is a place that reminds you who you are.

This is a traditional Rouban chest. It belonged to her mother.
It was shipped here from Rouba to be with KiKi.

It is adorn with the artistic style of her village.
These designs are carved and painted on it.

The inside is the color of honey. It represents the
sweetness of family.

The Cava!

This is a Cava- the traditional serving dish of her county.
It is similar to a Tagine or Mesob. The food is placed on this
dish and brought to the table. The dish is placed on the center
of the table. Tradition is that everyone eats with their hands
using Moto (a flat bread) so the dish must be close. The lid is
removed and everyone used the bread to eat the items on the
dish. KiKi can smell the fried plantains, Suya (spice meat kabob)
and a spice rice called Micca this dish will hold .

Life forces present.

There must be water…the life giving element and

there must be nature in this room right now it is this plant
from Rouba. It was very hard to get through Customs. KiKi
is expecting other things from her homeland.
Camille has promised to send some things too!

Snow Day!

Hey Gang!

Playing in the Snow!

The Laurent children have the best of both worlds! Today
school was closed, so Tre', LL, and Stephanie played in the fresh
snow. As much as they love the snow, they love it even more
because they know in three weeks they will be spending Little
Christmas with their grandparents in the warm sunny
Saint Malcolm Island in the Caribbean.
It is a family tradition! Little Christmas is always spent at
the family's island home!

Stephanie: I love the snow! The snowman could use
some work!

Stephanie: He could be fluffier!
LL: Maybe some branches?
Stephanie: Tre', get some more snow!

Tre': Are you the snow boss now?
Stephanie: Tre', get the snow!

LL: What are you up to?
Tre': Getting the snow!

LL: Not Good!

LL: She's gonna kill you!

Tre': Only if she catches me!

What!

Stephanie: UGH! Tre'! That's it for you!!

Tre': Get off me!!
Stephanie: No!!
Tre': Help me, bro!

LL: If I help you, next week you two will gang up on me!
I'm staying out of it.
Tre': Tell Mom Stephie is sitting on me!

LL: Nope! I am out of the whole thing!!

This photo was sent to their grandmother, Camille.
She got an excellent laugh out of it!

OK, Thanks For Looking!

Still In Love

Terrence and KiKi Laurent

Terrence is the oldest and for a long time the only child of
Steven and Camille Laurent. When he meet KiKi, it was
Love at first sight! He knew she was the one!
KiKi need some convincing.

They are happily married with a beautiful family and
...extended family. Family and friends are very
important to KiKi!

Fashion Trends!

So, it is snowing and I'm staying in. I thought I would start my photo catalog of my dolls today. You really don't know what you have until you start to do something like that. Anyway, while taking photos I saw something.

Have you ever notice that the fashion world will do a new spin on an old fashion trend? The sixties, seventies or eighties fashion will be trotted out and given a "new spin!" Sometimes it is good and sometimes it is not. Our fashion model for today is Stephanie Laurent(Nikki). She is a retro girl who loves sixties "Hippie and Flower Child" fashions. In her mind there is a difference between this type of fashion and "Mod Fashion". She will on occasion combine Hippie/Flower Child fashions with newer fashion accessories.

Here she is looking fantastic wearing her vintage sixties dress with hip boot she found. It is a talking PG dress from 1969.

Vintage pieces don't always stand the test of time or the stress of time but this dress does. If you are unable to find a vintage dress consider this modern alternative.

Here is Stephanie in the Barbie Fashion Fever Fashionista Artsy dress. Notice the similar cut and color palette of the dress. It goes perfectly will with her boots. This dress give our Stephanie modern alternative and increases her wardrobe. Here are the dresses side-by-side.
Stephanie is a talented shopper! That is it for my snow day report!

Come grow old with me, the best is yet to be...

Have you ever seen "When Harry Met Sally"? I love
that movie! There is a scene where couples talk about
how they go married. That was the inspiration for this
post. That and I tried to post on a forum about great
love stories and they have not approve me yet!

So I decided to do an on going feature of my doll couples
and their love story! So I had to include a reporter,
Steven T. Laurent.

Steven: Hi, I'm Steven T. Laurent your roving reporter
from station WJBS bring you our continuing feature on
love! I am interviewing my grandparents
Stephan T. Laurent and Camille Laurent about love.
They have been married for 50 years!

The Laurents: Hello!

Steven:How did you know that this was the person you should
marry?

Camille: I had just moved to the US from the Islands to
further my career as a model. I was invited to a church
social.

Steven: and then?

Stephan: I had come to say goodbye to my pastor before
leaving for Air Force flight school. He told me he had
someone he wanted me to meet. I Knew when I saw her.

Stephan: We dated and wrote letter for two years. I had
to finish flight school you know. She had gotten pretty
well know in modeling by then too. Then I asked her!

Camille: I said yes!
Both together: We have happy ever since!

Aren't they just great! This has been our "Endless Love"
feature. Until next time I am Steven Laurent Of WJBS.
