My New Favorite Things!

I wanted to show you some new diorama items I recently purchased from thrift stores and flea markets and what I got from the International Black Doll Show and Sale!

So here we go… I told you I got the gardening set from the Black Doll Show.

My gardener will be Angelina!

Outfit and hat.

 I love the little tools!

Someone recently gave me some Barbie size tools too.

They are a little off scale wise but certain dolls aren't as picky as others!

Next I got this rug at my favorite thrift store.

Xia is our model today. She is dressed in a Miya inspired outfit. Doesn’t she look cute!
I was looking for something like this for someone especial! The rug will go to Chief Running Bear for his home.

Also going to his home is this desk! If you read dbg’s post of Black Doll Collecting on the International Black Doll Show and Sale, you will remember Linda Hayes saying she had a desk at the show. Yes, that right! The early bird gets the worm… or the desk! This is the desk she had for sale! I will give it a hit with some Old English and maybe add some feet to it before sending it to him.

I also purchased from Ms. Hayes is this Power Team guy. It’s funny, I was going to purchase this guy on the Dollpage but the seller already had a sale for him. So now I have him anyway. No name for him or anything yet.

Close-up!

I also from Ms. Hayes is Halle Berry! I immediately rebody her! She is on an AA Fashionista body. She had some pretty strange eyelashes too! So I gave them a trim. I do think she a beauty!  Sometimes she looks like Halle Berry and other times she looks like Nicole Ari Parker.  Haven’t figure a her name either but it will come.

Close-up!

I got these cassette holders from the dollar store.

The will make great chairs for my folks to sit in! When I read Vanessa’s post on Wedding Reception Crisis Averted, chairs were mentioned as a possible issue! I learned from her to pick up chairs when you see them.

I found this sofa which you have seen with Sydney
(Thrift store)
I got these!  This is my original.  It is a candle holder. They show up a lot at my favorite thrift store.  At first I paid then no attention.  Now I look in that section first!
This is my first one!

It had a piece like this in it.

I removed it.

Now I have two!

(Thrift store) I will do the same with these.

(Flea market) two more of these. I already had two

(Thrift store)

and two more of these also to add to my chair collection. Can you have too many chairs?

I purchased this picnic table for my park.

This table and three more came from Style In Scale. Thanks Jennifer! Words don’t do these tables justice! I plan to follow her direction on cleaning. I learned something in the process of purchasing the tables. It cost more to send something from Canada to the US than it cost to send from the US to Canada. That was something I didn’t know.

This table is from my favorite thrift store.

Some lamps from the dollar store. They had these in a few colors….I may need more.

I got an Etch A Sketch…

these, which reminds me of the game Connect Four

 and my extra Foosball table.

I also received some pizza  and breakfast from Vanessa of Van's Doll Treasures!

Xia: Maybe just one slice?

I need to get another of these! Hey Van, What else  ya got?

A little something for Fiona!

I also got a few things for my wee ones!

A car and

Trucks!

Ok! I couldn't pass this up for 5.00!

Now my horses have a home!

Yes, it need some work... will I get to it....maybe!
Yes, I went a little hog wild for a minute!

I’ll show you more dolls later.

Thanks For Looking!

While Getting The Fixings For Thanksgiving

I was out getting some last minute things for
Thanksgiving dinner. My market was out of
sharp cheese. Can you believe that, they were
all out. Well, what puts the real favor in the
cheese mix of baked macaroni than sharp cheese.
So now I'm driving out of my normal area. I come
to an intersection where this guy is selling odds and
ends on the corner. I hit the brakes
when I saw something big and pink in the corner.
I looked quickly in the back of the car, the eggs are OK.
I parked the car and casually walked over. As I get closer,
I can see it is what I thought. I walked over and
tried to look cool and not excited. I looked at everything
first and then walked over to this.
2001 Grand Hotel!

Front View
I doesn't have the furniture or front doors. Still not too
bad. It doesn't have the second bed/bathroom thingie. Still
not too bad. It doesn't have the check in desk. That would be
too much to hope for. There aren't any cracks and nothing
is broken. So, I ask him how much. He say $4.00.
Now, do I need another structure? No! Do I have
space for another structure? Not really! Should
I buy it anyway? Yes! I almost tore my pocket off given
him the money. Check out the redo of the front of the Grand
Hotel in Roville. The windows are also used. In Circlez
City Women's Conference the hotel was also used.
These are both good sites if you like clothing, props, and dolls!

Inside View
It is in need of a good cleaning. I will do that next week.
This week will be too crazy.

I have seen the hotel re-done by a few people and have
seen bits and pieces of in used in dioramas. I have seen the
front of the house in Roville as a the Lilac Bakery. (see above)
So for me the question is do I keep it whole or in pieces.

I have to find out what can be taken out. I don't think
I would want a salon where it is. Should I try to chase down
the missing pieces for the hotel? I have seen item time to
time on ebay. I read a post (you most check it out) on
A Doll Affinity of a women who has been working on
her doll room for 17 years. Slowly collecting pieces.
That makes me a baby at it.

I always love this horse shoe shaped sectional about
the hotel.

I love the windows too!

It has one of the beds. The purple thing fits in the slots
and joins the parts of the house together.

Both the phones are there. This one has the stool.

The bathtub/bed should have been here. It may be
hard to find. I might have to come up with something
new for this spot.

I plan to start my house painting of my houses in the new year.
I guess I need a big can of primer in.

Finds At A Flea Market

Flea Market Finds!

I was at a Church flea market over the weekend. I
went looking for cake! Yes, that's right cake. Old
church ladies make the best cake. I was hoping
for 7-up cake or lemon poppyseed cake or maybe
spice cake. If you are really lucky, you'll find a coconut
cake with creamcheese icing and lemon filling! Yum!
These aren't the kind of cakes you might find at the
market. I found some cake there but not any of the
special ones I was looking for.

I did find these!

A couch tissue box cover. This goes over a tissue
box. There is a slit behing the pillowes where the
tissue comes out. This was luck. I got it for $1.00.
I found theses too.

The brass ones will go well with the sofa.

African decor.

These are classics

These egg holders will make great plant stands or some
other kind of stands. They were 25 cent each.

This is the big score. Tea Time Barbie set. The box says
"With her friends Lil Bear and Cozy Bunny." The set
the bear andbunny, tea service, Barbie doll and two
chairs and a table new in box for $10.00. I have two
matching chair to this set, so I had to have this.

The plush toy crew!

I have one doll with this face. I don't think I need two.
I will have to have a face off!

It was a great day but it would have been even better with some special cake!
