The Return of Rhonda!

 Hey Gang!

My Fashionista BoHo Fringe has been sitting around hoping for blog time!

Rhonda: Yes, Ms. Leo! What's up with that! And my name is Rhonda.

Well, Rhonda, I said, you did have that hair that has that sticky stuff in it! It took washing with adhesive remover several times to get that stuff out.
Rhonda: Yeah, maybe but I have this great hair color!

You also have a stiff body but I've got a new articulated body for you! I ordered more
bodies from China.

New body and old body.

Rhonda on the new body and Rhonda's old body.

It is similar to the old Fashionista articulated body. Contrary to popular belief, MTM bodies are the be-all and end-all of bodies. The old Fashionista body was more elegant to me. The bodies from China aren't made as well as the Mattel Fashionista body but the Mattel body is getting harder to find. I think stocking up on these cheap bodies might work for me.

Me: Rhonda is a difficult complexion match. She doesn't match the complexion of any other warm tones of Mattel dolls in the line. She has the gray-green undertone of an IT doll or an old Defa Lucy doll.

Rhonda: I'm shorter now! I guess I can deal with that now that I can move. I think it is time for an outfit!

Me: OK, I have this Fresh Dolls outfit!
Rhonda: Yeah, this is kinda nice! I don't need those shoes.  I like these better.
Me: Now that you can move, tell us a little about yourself!

Rhonda:  Well, I am a happily married mother of three girls.  With three young teenage and preteenage girls, it can be a drama zone at home. I will be working in the Radiology Department at the hospital.

Me: Oh, so you will need scrubs! I have just the thing! I got these scrubs too from Fresh Dolls.
I saw a review on the Fresh Dolls fashion packs. One of the things that the reviewer said was that "at the price point Fresh Dolls outfits don't contain shoes like Mattel and or cheap Dollar Tree outfits.
Rhonda: It will be great to get to work!

Off The Table And Out To Play!

Hey Gang,

So these dolls  never really went to the project table.  They were worked on
right away.  I not sure of how I feel about them but here they are!

I don't believe that Mattel will to petite articulated bodies but until they do
I thought I might want my petite fashionista to have an articulated  body.

Now she is a little shorter than Skipper but she has an articulated body now.
I used the body from the darkest Creatable World doll.
She doesn't have breast and as you can see her neck is a little shorten that the petite
doll so she stands shorter. Her feet are bigger/wider too!  So I am not sure if she will
stay on this body but here she is for now!
I thought I would just sell the head  and wig but then I got and idea!

You always need another boy!  And his head is a little large for the body but
here he is too!

My second Team Stacie Boy is off the project table and out to play too. He
doesn't have a name.  I am taking suggestions.

After
Before-
My Stacie boy rebodied
As you can see, I have changed the color and shape of his hair.
I have add hair the black paint to give it some texture!

His eyes are black removed the cat like point at the corners of the eyes.

I removed his smile and have redressed him!
And given him some specks!

Since it is black History Month, he want to read to you  a few inventors from
the list of Black Inventors And Their Inventions! If you can't read it, try the link!

AA Puma Barbie!

Hey Gang!

I found an AA Puma Barbie at a local discount store for 19.99! I have been
seeing her on the net and her bee-stun lips appealed to me!
I thought that she was a version of mbili but she is her own face sculpt. The same
one used for Harlem Theatre Selma Dupar James.
 Harlem Theatre Selma Dupar James

I like her eyes and eyebrows better than the 20's look of Selma Dupar.
The pink streaked hair makes her look youthful!  Her pink lips aren't too
pink but just pink enough to make her look fun.
I have wrapped her braids in the back.

I am not such a fan of the outfit! The over size jacket is not my doll style.
The print of Puma on the white pants is off scale. I don't like the large bow
on the back of the sneaker or the ring either.  But on a scale from 1-10, I
would give this doll a solid 9!
 Oversize jacket
 The top is pretty cute!
 Puma pants and sneakers!

So that is how I would describe her over all, she looks like a fun girl!So what would
a fun girl like this wear? Let try a few things!

She is a cat fan!
Dollar Store top with a shrug that I didn't know I had!
I just love this on her! Very fun!
 Futuristic Fun!
 Step Team outfit?
I didn't like this dress on the Curvy Barbie but it looks good on her!

The made to move body is a plus! It is great to have a doll that you don't have
to find a body for! Oh and her ears are pierced already too.

I am call her Chantal! She is Chandra and Vanessa's cousin

Video Of The Month-Changing The Eyes Have It!

Hey Gang!

The video I am featuring this month is from My Froggy Stuff!  It isn't a
new video but it is one that has enticed me for a while.  You might say
an oldie but a goodie! It is on doll contact lenses!

Y
You might remember me saying that I don't like dolls with sideways glancing eyes!
I have some dolls that have these eye but I didn't feel like repainting them.  After
watching this video when it was first posted, I thought that might work. Then after
watching year a later, thought why paint anything, why not just take pictures of the
eyes I want and make the pictured eyes into coverings.

So first up is HSM Sharpay!

I wanted my Esmae (first version of HSM Sharpay-taller) to be the mom. She has
forward looking eyes.

She needed a daughter who is kind of a mini me that I am calling Chrystal (second
version of HSM doll with Skipper size body). Now does have the side glancing eyes.

BTW, in my area, this is doll is #2 of the doll always seen at the thrift store!
I have three.  Only one I am keeping. One I use the body for another doll. I
might sell there other!

So I searched the web for pictures  of Sharpay (yeah I now I could
have just taken a picture but I didn't). You want a close up picture of the doll
facing forward. I crop the picture to get just the eyes.  I did it in a labels sheet
which forces it to be kinda small. I use a free editing program to get a mirror
image and measure to get the right size. Then I cut them out.

Following the rest of what they did on My Froggy Stuff, I built up a layer of clear
glue, added the paper eyes and just a little more glue to seal.  I put several pair
of eyes on the label sheet. Save it as a doc for later.
She is no longer looking to the side!
Aww! Mother Esmae and daughter Chrystal

Next up is Li Shang,

The other versions have forward facing eye (Two of the Tsai brothers)
but this last Disney store version has those eye again!

I used a photo of the first version's eyes since they are brown and detailed.
This is the reverse image of the eyes!
I did both and chose the ones I liked best.

I put a little too much glue on these! Especially on the top of the photo.  It is
more of a shine than I wanted.
The next time I will put less and I might
even use Disney version #2's eyes.
Blaise and his best frien Zhang!

Lastly, SIS Chandra!

Yeah I know I painted her eyes and that was OK, but years later....
(I also lighten this photo and replace the one in the original post! I do try to up
and change my blog to make it better when I can.)

I think I can do something different!

So I can give here eyes more like here
sister Vanessa.
Vanessa!
The updated Chandra!
 I like her!
Chandra and Vanessa!

This was so much fun! I can easily see my self doing more.  One of the key
problems for me in off brand dolls are they eyes. So this could be a big help!

Now I am looking at other dolls sideways!

OK, Thanks For Looking!
