Barbie Got A New Job!

Hey Gang!

So lately Mattel seems to have just rehashed barbie careers teachers, vets, flight
attendants, and chefs.  They should try construction worker, parking meter reader
and librarian.  I'm just saying! There hasn't beenany thing new with cool accessories
either!   The other day I saw this Barbie in Walmart!

They are calling her an eye doctor! Because there are three types of eye care
professionals, ophthalmologist, optometrist and optician, it was hard to give
her a title.   Maybe children don't know  the difference either.  So I guess eye Doctor!
Anyway here she is.

They are still overusing the Desiree head-sculpt!  She is wearing glasses too! Booo!
Mattle, we know you have different head sculpts! We seen them now!  So use them.

She comes with a lab coat and dress that is a shirt/skirt combo.  I wonder is the
back of the "skirt" has the same design?
She has a young patient.  They have taken the shine of of the young dolls now.
They were really shiny before.
There are 4 pair of glasses! I think they must be kids glasses.
I guess we will have to wait to see!
 and eye chart...
a chair and  phoropter/refractor ( yes that is what that crazy thing is called)!
I can just hear the doctor say " which one looks better, the first one or the second one".
Me: can you do it again?  I couldn't tell.
I hope the chair can fit an adult doll like Ken too!
The Glasses!
I'm expecting....no I'm request that My Froggy Stuff do stuff like this!
I always love to see what she can do!

OK, Thanks For Looking!

Another I Can Be...Violinist!

I found the ” I can be…” violinist set at my local Wal-Mart. It was
a better price than at the TRU store, so I purchased it.
So, let's really take a look at it!  Here is what is comes with:

Shoes-grey/silver
A violin...with the name Barbie on it! (boo, boo, boo)
And the dress itself!  Ms. D agreed to be our model again.
The dress is nothing special in my mind but some
people might like it.
Ms. D. will play you all a little tune.
Ms. D: I really can't play. I'm just modeling this thing.

This dress is just a little better than that astronaut outfit!   It is nothing you
would ever really catch me wearing anywhere.  I tell you that Mattel!

Even knock off companies are doing better clothing.  I might have to write them.

I really purchase this for the violin. I can't believe that they put Barbie on it
that large!  I have two barbie size violins but I need at least one more.

Let me show you my other violins in my collection.

I have the one I got when I puchased this set years ago and I also have
one from when I puchased a MGA Entertainment Moxie Girlz "Be True!
Be You" Rock Star 2 School Star.  I think I got it last fall.

So let's compare the violins!

Moxie, older Barbie and new I can be...,
All are about the same size but the real difference is in the quality.

You can't really tell from the picture but the Moxie violin has
painted on strings on the violin. The bow is casted as one piece with
the strings painted beige. The newer I can be... violin is the same as the
Moxie, it has painted on strings. The older Mattel has real strings on the
violin and the bow!

Bow

The Back

Only the older Mattel violin has a back to the violin.

I Can Be ...Barbie Fashion Pack!

The other day Vanessa of Fashion Dolls At Van's Dolls
Treasures posted about new barbie fashion packs. It just so
happens that I had picked up the astronaut pack on my week
off.

Since Dominique wants more blog time this year, I asked her
to be the model. She wasn't so happy about it but her she is!

I told her that Tyra Banks say that a model can model
anything! She said: Tyra, Tyra, Tyra...you would think
that women invented modeling! Well she didn't!

I paid $7.49 for it. I'm not sure if that is good or bad but
I have only seen them in the TRU in Center City Phila.

Ms. D: I feel like a goldfish in this thing!

And the glass is soo cloudy. Can you see how pretty
I am in this?

The helmet is mad for a doll with short hair which is
another reason I asked Ms. D to wear it is long hair can't
fit well inside the helmet.

Ms. D wanted you to know it has 3/4 length sleeves. Not
too good for outer space!

I put these gloves with it!

Ms. D: Really Ms. Leo...cocktail gloves?
Ms. Leo: They match the boots and they are all I could
find right now. You know models are supposed to complain
either.

Here is what the back of the package looks like.

I think the suit will go in the Franklin Institute Academy

of Science Museum. ;)

Thanks for looking!

Wee Ones!

Mattel Children!
Volume 1

Mattel has be done children dolls to accompany their
adult dolls for a while. Some are more known and popular
like Skipper. Others are not like the Heart family children.
On this post I'd like to show you my latest purchase!
The Arrival!

Warning ...Nude Dolly Pictures

I purchased her nude for $2.00. It didn't bother me at
first that she didn't have clothing. Liked her face! It is
different from the old Kelly face. It was wider and a little
cheekier! Mattel did a real wide face Kelly
( the lemon heads) a while back but she is not one of those.
My mystery doll!

She has "Shirley Temple curls"! That is what we
called them when I was a little girl. They are called spiral
curls now. Yeah, I'm dating myself! The front curls
were passable but the back.....I believe is what in the
hairdressing world is referred to as
a hot mess!

So I guess I'm going to have to work on her hair!

When I looked at her on the web, I thought she was
SIS child size. Her legs were longer than the old Kelly
body. To my surprise, out of the package, she was shorter
than SIS children.

Here she is beside Zahara. Still she didn't look the size of
the xxx Kelly... she is not. She is a little taller than the
2004 Kelly.

Kelly 2004, Miss Mystery and Zahara!
I searched the Internet for a picture of her but without a
name, buyer had her listed as just Kelly, info is hard to find.
I came across a great website on Kelly dolls I like to share
with you! The name of the site is Lil Friends of Kelly.
It has great info on Kelly dolls. The Administrator wanted
me to tell you that she is still working on some things on the
site. Also, she may not have time to answer a lot of
inquires right away too. But be patient while she gets things
up to speed.

I found out that this doll is part of the "I Can Be... "
Professions Bunch-Career 4-Pack. This pack included
Kelly/Shelly, Tommy, Kayla, Miranda. It came out in 2008.
These dolls have what is know to collectors as the "smug
face". Their legs are longer than the previous Kellys' and
I think they are the precursors to the the Shelby and SIS
we are seeing now. The "I Can Be..." doll are referred to as
Kelly/Shelly. See what I mean...Shelly-Shelby. The
administrator of the Lil Friends of Kelly site believes that
she is Miranda. The Tommy and Shelly stayed the same
the Miranda and Kayla dolls changed depending on the set.
So know we know who she is!

I can be Professions bunch!

So, I still didn't have clothing for her! I could borough
something from another doll but I hate to have less
clothing than dolls. That is when I realised that I
hadn't seen Kelly clothing for sale in stores for years!
There use to be clothing set for her or a big sister little
sister pack. There really hasn't been the full range of
Barbie fashions since Fashion Avenue! I really miss
that degree of fashion option for my dolls! I remembered
a post from Van's Doll Treasures on a
dress. So I pick up a dress at the craft store. There
weren't shoe but at least I had a dress.
Once she is restyled and dressed I will post her
picture!
