Longhouse-- Working On The Layout

Hey Gang!

My Native American dolls were one of the first dolls to move to Johnston.  In my
mind, some of the dolls there live communally and others have house on
the campus.  I have several ideas of what I want the main seating area in my
Native American longhouse to look like.  I know the furniture I want to use...
I think and I will add a few other things. I plan to use a large box and cover
it with some type of covering to make the walls of the room.  Here is my
ruff draft of the room!

Most of the items I am using are things that I have found in thrift stores.
Like the two benches that will be sofas.

And this pie cooler in the back.  I have already used the cabinet in the dinning hall
so I guess I will use something else.
This desk I got from will take me some time to get it right.  I will have to
make draws and other touches to give it the right feel.
the wood stove need a flu and I need to find nic nacs.
Try # 2
I like he rug but I am thinking the walls are too dark. even with colorful art.
These stumps will be tables. I think I could use glass tops. I want the wood to show.
I have two different fabrics I am thinking about for the sofas,. This is choice #1

This is #2 a blanket type style in colors.

Any suggestions?

OK, Thanks For Looking!

More Horses!

Hey Gang!

This is one of the dioramas I was working on a while back. I took pictures to see how
it looked.  I see some changes I can make and some things I want to do better.
I decided to post the photos along with a story anyway.  I will work on the paddock
in the meantime.  Here is the post for Thundercloud!

Ahiga and his wife have just moved to the Iroquois and Native American settlement.
Ahiga has always worked with livestock; that is what he has come here to do.

So it's a warm day in Johnston, and the horses were taken out to the paddock.

Ahiga brought out food to feed the horse with.

Ahiga: This is going to be a great day!  I'm glad to have a break from the snow.

This will be a good day for the foal to come out and meet the other horses.

Water was added to the trough for them to drink.

Hello Buttercup!

You need a little exercise even though you've given birth.

Being a mommy has been good for you!  You are not as jumpy.

She really wanted to get to the hay.

Hello little one!

Taffy came over for a pat.

Taffy doesn't come to many people, but she comes to Ahiga.

Both horses went over to get a drink.

Midnight was also out for the day of sun.

Hey, big fellow!
Midnight was really happy to be out.

Bison: Greetings

Ahiga: Greetings! So you made your way here!
How long have you been here?

Does the Chief know that you are here?

Bison: I just got here. I came directly to the paddock. Smiling, Bison
said No! I would appreciate it if you don't tell him I was here.

Ahiga: He is the Chief, so I can't promise that. He said with a slight twitch to his lips.

Bison: I have a favor to ask of you!

All the horses gathered around the water.
Bison: This is Thundercloud!  He needs to be boarded while I travel.

Ahiga: He is a nice-looking horse! A Roan!

Bison: I just picked him up.  I purchased him a few months back, but I have to
take a trip to the West Coast.

Bison: I'll pay his board, and I need him cared for until I come back!
I have his papers and records with me for you.

Ahiga: I guess you have shows..... And when you come back?

Bison: I will deal with things when I come back!

Ahiga: You put me in a spot!  Ok, the horse can stay!

Bison: Hear that, fellow, you got a home with friends.

You know there will always be a place for you here!
Bison: Yeah, I know!

Ahiga: We are not the only new members here.  You should meet them.
Bison: Yeah, OK.

OK, Thanks For Looking!

Disney Males and Video of the Month

Hey Gang!

Mattel doesn't do many male face sculptures all at once. As a matter of fact,
there are currently more male face sculptures in all Mattel's lines now than
ever. Right now in their Barbie playline ( not including Gamer) there is one
Ken face sculpture (some with different hair), two AA face sculptures
(one an old and one new), and one the have not given a background.

In contrast because of movie merchandising, Disney has always had more
and different head sculptures released at the same time. There is normally
a male character for each female lead character.

In the beginning of my doll collecting, the of the first males
I purchased was not Mattel Ken but a Disney male by Mattel.

Yes this guy Kocoum.  On a new body and named Bison Most of the first Disney
male doll available in toy store were made by Mattel for Disney back then.  He is still
my favorite but he does have some competition!

And in the beginning, I was skeptical of Disney dolls especially the one not made
by Mattel!  I didn't really like them. I thought their heads were too big and their eyes
were too cartoonish!  Yep, Disney had balloon head dolls before Mattel did them.
Disney Bell

 Mattel Fashion Fever

I didn't think Kocoum was made that way!  His head is not so large and maybe because
he was a serious character, he doesn't look so cartoonish! Mattel with Disney has done one
of the few Native American male doll or indigenous male dolls....

I have slowly been worn down! I guess it started with Li Shang and Naveen.  There
are just so few male fashion dolls and fewer ethic male dolls that I add Disney males
to expand my collection.  I hate having single female dolls around.  They seem lonely.

Li Shang
Disney store and Mattel side by side.
Naveens!
Disney and Mattel.
I even purchased a new Li Shang with molded hair.  I will make him a brother.

After purchasing the Mattel version of these male dolls, I started looking at
the Disney store versions and purchased them too!  Mattel only came out with one Asian!
Thank goodness there have been AA Ken/Stevens and others.

I have added Lucas to my collection!  Yes, that is the name that I have given him.

He is Disney Prince Philip!
I might change his body but not right now!

I might want to do what pseudanoymous did from Flickr did body wise but I really
have plans to do what he did to Flynn Rider hair.  For now I only have the doll!

I also purchase a Frozen Kristoff.

The doll they sold in the stores had the molded on clothes but the eye looked
forward. The Disney store doll had clothes you could take off but it was side
glancing.  As you might know, side glancing is not my favorite!  I got both at
thrift stores thinking the heads would be interchangeable but they were not the
same complexion nor do that have the same neck knob.

I have come across many Captain Phoebus doll!

They make great body donors for darker complexion 70's, 80's and 90's.
I has used him for Kocoum.  He is a good match but I like the liker AA
body for him even better.
I decided to give him a repaint and make him a Native American.  His facial
features work to me. The hair and the eye color were wrong though.
Cheveyo!
He was asked by Running Bear to preform the Cleansing Ceremony for  the longhouse.
