Modern Circle Melody!

My other recent dolly purchase is Modern Circle Melody!

This is her test shot!
I saw her again for the first time when I was out with Miya and Kevin. Miya had her in her purse and she was trying to find a new body for her. Miya and Kevin told me how well they thought she photographed and show me her pictures on their smartphone. Yeah, I had to have her after that! I was able to find her sold nude on the Dollpage.

Thanks, Cindy Of CindyInKentucky .

She is quite happy here! I love her blue hair! I didn’t think I would but I do! I do like her freckles too. I would never think that she would have purple eyes!

So it is blue hair, purple eyes and orange/red lips! What a combo. I am thinking about repainting the eyes but I’m not sure. You know how I feel about that whole sideway looking eye thing.

And especially after seeing this picture.   I love the look in her eyes!

I did see this another version of the doll on the Dollpage with a multi color blue shorter hair, forward looking eyes and different make-up. I would love to see her in person! For now I have Melody.

Here is a shot comparing the two! Some say the second version didn't have the freckles and some say they did.

Did you know that there is a Flickr photo group for dolls with blue hair?

http://www.flickr.com/groups/740089@N23/pool/

I guess you do need a site for blue haired dolls.  It helps you know how to photograph the doll and how to dress them.  There is a art to dressing a doll with blue hair.

She is easier to dress in blue!

In a vintage Barbie dress.
When I got her home I when and got out my Pop Life Christie!  I have always said that it is the ltttle differences in the face paint of a doll that makes a difference.

The Pop Life dolls lips aren't painted as full!  I would have loved my girl to have fuller lips!

So, she will be know as Darien Templeton.

Thanks for looking!

Viewer's Vote Is!

The Vote Is In!

So the poll has ended and the viewers voted for
the Pop Life Christie body --72%! So I decided to do a photo
shot of Julia on the new body! Here are the shots.
Julia Sporty and Edgy!

Here she is on one of my favorite dress that I liked to see
her in. But she doesn't look the same. There were some
differences when I put Julia on the belly button body. Most
clothes she can still fit except for one skirt and some of the slim
pants. But the good out wieghted the bad but there were big
changes in what she could wear and how
I felt about her in it on the Pop Life body! Most of the
clothes and almost all of the pants are a little short for the
Pop Life body. Her hands are too large to fit in the openings
of shirt and jacket sleeves too. Pop Life dolls are taller than
regular Barbies and are taller than some of the male dolls
I have. On the Pop Life body she was now too tall for her love
interest. Not Good. So for a while she was on the Pop Life body.
I couldn't say for sure if she would stay there. I didn't know
what I would do with the Pop Life Christie head. Some how
that face looked swollen on other bodies.

To bad that the Fashionista doll only comes in one AA
complexion which is lighter than many other AA dolls.
Then while surfing the net I got and idea! I saw other dolls
that had the Fashionista hands on belly bottom bodies.
There was the 2nd wave Fashion fever dolls. I think that
they had the short torso. I didn't want that. I saw the SIS
Stylin' Hair dolls . They were perfect for what I
wanted but I had to act fast.
This time of year, all the black dolls fly out of the stores
in black neighborhoods and in some white neighborhoods too.
The ratio of black dolls in a Mattel shipment is low to begin with.
Store can't just order the Black dolls that they are out of; they
have to order a mixed box. That may mean on many doll orders
that only 2 of 14 dolls in the box are black. To make matters
worse many toy store do not do much ordering for the first 6-8
weeks after Xmas. So I had to break my promise and spend
money that I was holding out on. I am quite pleased with the
results.

Here is Julia and KiKi on their new bodies!
These ladies would not wear these outfits or at least not
like this. I have to make some changes!
I like the hands on them now.
Getting the head off was a pill with the new head knob!!
Ah this is more like it! Julia's head has found a home!
So while I respect and acknowledge your vote, I do, I do, I do!
Here is the final Julia.

The Best Body!

I'M POSTING A POLL!

So, I've been playing around with a body for Julia. I love
her face but, after changing a few dolls to the Artsy body,
I wanted a change from the Twist-N-Turn (TNT) body
she was on.

Be Advised!
I will be posting nude dolly photos!

By the way, this is a repo Julia head on an
original Julia body. Original Julia head can develop green
ear and green spot. So you can't do earring or some
clothing. There isn't that problem with the repo heads.

The first body I put her on was a Model Muse (MM)
Barbie Basics # 10. The complexion match was
good! I was not sure it the head looked too big though.
But the problem I have with the model muse bodies
is posing. They really can't do a lot of posing. It is not
the best body for Photo stories where you need some
pose options.

The next body I put the head on was the SIS Grace.
The complexion was pretty good. Better than the MM but .

You also had pose possibility with the arms and
legs. More that with the TNT body and way more than
with MM body. I did a couple of photo sessions with her
on it and I liked the possibilities.

Today I put her on the Pop Life (PL) Christie Body. I a
am not sure if this is the same body used for the Jazz
Baby doll. If anyone one know please tell me.
It too was a good match of complexion. I really like the
famine hands of the body. The Artsy and the SIS
doll hands are not as nice and the Pop Life body. The
articulated wrists a and upper chest make it really nice for
posing. But she does seem a bit skinny! Maybe too
skinny for a doll who is supposed to be middle aged. And
my doll is middle aged! The body is taller too.

For me, the best solution would be the arms of the Pop
Life doll with the body of the SIS doll. But I don't know
how to do that.

There you are!

In Mid Air!

In Mid Air

Since she is so poseable I decide to take a shot of her in mid air. He she is jumping. It is the type of shot that they get the models to do on America's Next Top Model in their photo shots. Thinking of how to do this was fun. I never really try creative picture taking. I have her posed with the aid of nylon thread. I only wished I new how to remove the shadow of the thread. I tried a black background the next time but you can still see the thread. I don't have a tripod and now I can see the benefit of having one. I was hard to hold the string and take the picture too! Please pardon is the shots are sharp enough.

Oh! Although I really like the name Seleena for her. She is telling me that she is a Deena. What do you think?

My New Doll!

My New Doll!!

I really do like most of the mod era dolls. I have a few of the AA dolls: Francie, Julia, Live action Christie, and Brad. Now I am adding what I guess you would call a repro to the list. Pop Life Christie.

So, can you call it a repro if they never did this face mold in an AA doll before? I don't know. I saw this doll in the catalog when she was first released. I knew I didn't have this face but I was not sure that I was going to by her. Sometime it is hard to get a really good look at the face from a book or the web. I have not seen her in any store. I saw a layout done in Haute Doll of her. Wow! I knew I had to have her. Luckily a doll became available on eBay. I bought her nude. I didn't need the outfit and just one chair, so nude was good for me.

Her lips are that neutral pink color of many of the AA dolls of that era. They didn't do many red lips on black dolls then. Her eye shadow is pink to but not as neutral as the dolls of the era. It is more dramatic and she has long eyelashes that are curled closer to the lid that dolls of the era. She has separated out stretched fingers a nice manicure. She has articulated wrists. Her body is taller and slim like Model Muse with pivotal body segments like Fashionista or like an Alvin Ailey Barbie without the extremely arched feet. What does this mean clothing wise.... many possibilities but I think, no gloves!

Here she is!

Deena as a new model signed to the Devereux agency, will need a portfolio Dominique (Julia), Francie (Francie) and Christie have pulled some clothes for her photo shoot.

See the shoot!
