May is Disney Month! 1999 Sleeping Beauty Aurora!

Hey Gang!

One of my favorite dolls of the old Mattel Disney princesses is this version of Sleeping Beauty!
This Sleeping Beauty doll is based on the 1959 American animated musical fantasy film. Filled with jealousy, the evil witch Maleficent curses Princess Aurora to die on her 16th birthday. Thanks to Aurora's guardian fairies, she only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with a kiss from her betrothed, Prince Phillip. To prevent Phillip from rescuing Aurora, Maleficent kidnaps and imprisons him. The good fairies are the last hope to free Phillip so that he can awaken Aurora.

1999 Disney Classics Sleeping Beauty Aurora Collector Doll!

closeup!

This is my doll. I donated her dress years ago and put her in this dress. Her eyes aren't
too large like many of the Disney princesses. She has a beautiful face.
I really like her hair. She has barrel curls. I have pulled them back into a clip.
She looks good in pink. I need to give her an articulated body and a storyline to post more on her.

AliExpress Doll Heads!

 Hey Gang!

One of my new favorite places to buy things from is AliExpress! You can find thing that I used to be available plentifully on eBay at good prices. You can also find unusual and interesting things. Yeah, some of the shipping time is long but not bad for things that are hard to find.

One of those thing are doll and action figure heads. I got these three! One Disney and two world peacekeepers.

Disney store classic male heads fit on all the classic bodies. So for them is is just find a body at the thrift store

World peacekeeper action figures are still available but some headsculpt are harder to find than others.

World Peacekeeper heads pop on to the body pretty easily. The complexion on most of the non AA figures are about the same. So, if I find and extract body fine, but body sharing is a good options.

Disney is back in the Mattel Fold!

 Hey Gang!

I mentioned to you that Disney had move the production of its' Princess to Hasbro and Jakks in 2016.  As of January of 2022, Mattel has won back the license to produce dolls and toys based on the Walt Disney Company’s popular character like ice princesses Elsa and Anna from the “Frozen” movie franchise. The new dolls by Mattel will reach the Market in 2023!

Most of Disney's doll releases since 2016 have been from its' Live Action except for Manoa, Frozen II, Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto. These dolls who have be release for Disney's live action and animated movies  made by Jakk and Hasbro will end production as of 2022. I am wondering will these Hasbro's Disney dolls go on sale and will they become collectable? What do you think?

Disney Captain John Smith-For Memorial Day

Hey Gang!

Even though he is English, this is Disney month, so Captain John Smith
is our feature soldier for this Memorial Day!  He is the male lead character from the move
Pocahontas.
He's got some really sharp cheekbones!  You can cut yourself on those puppies!

About the move:

Pocahontas is a 1995 American animated adventure musical romantic historical drama film based on the life of the Native American woman Pocahontas. It portrays a fictionalized account of her historical encounter with Englishman John Smith and the Jamestown settlers who arrived from the Virginia Company. The film was produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures on June 16, 1995. It is the 33rd Disney animated feature film and the sixth film produced and released during the period known as the Disney Renaissance. The film was directed by Mike Gabriel and Eric Goldberg (his feature directorial debut). The voice cast stars Irene Bedard and Mel Gibson as Pocahontas and Smith, respectively, with David Ogden Stiers, Russell Means, Christian Bale, Billy Connolly, and Linda Hunt providing other voices. The score was written by Alan Menken, who also wrote the film's songs along with Stephen Schwartz. After making his directorial debut with The Rescuers Down Under (1990), Gabriel conceived the film during a Thanksgiving weekend. The project went into development concurrently with The Lion King (1994), and attracted most of Disney's top animators. Meanwhile, Disney studio chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg decided the film should be a serious romantic epic in the vein of Beauty and the Beast (1991), in hope that like Beauty, it would also be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Screenwriters Carl Binder, Susannah Grant, and Philip LaZebnik took creative liberties with history in an attempt to make the film palatable to audiences. Pocahontas received mixed reactions from reviewers, who praised its animation, titular character, musical score, themes, voice performances, and songs, but criticized its story with its lack of focus on tone. The film's historical inaccuracies and racial overtones received polarized responses. Pocahontas earned over $346 million at the box office. The film received two Academy Awards for Best Musical or Comedy Score for Menken and Best Original Song for "Colors of the Wind". According to critics, Pocahontas has influenced subsequent films.
Of the princess movies, it ranks # 7.  I am not sure if this is the move or progress in marketing over time.

If you know me, you know I haven't seen the movie. I didn't know that there was a Pocahontas II!
Did you? The fact that I haven't seen the movie never stops me from buying the dolls!
I have the Sun Color John Smith with the gift giving arms. My doll wasn't new.  He
is a thrift store doll. He had his top and pants but no boots, helmet, sword or pouch.
Over the years I have completed his outfit. It will make a great Halloween
costume and it can also be props in the museum.
I had the hardest time getting just the helmet after get the breast plate.  I got it as part of a
group of hats on Facebook.
I rebodied my doll to give in articulated knees and elbows.  It will give him some versatility
role than his original body and he can still fit into most Ken outfits.

Unlike the movie, he will not be pared with Pocahontas.  In my dolliverse, Kocoum
and Pocahontas will finally be a couple.

Disney Month-Cheetah Girls Disney Dolls

 Hey Gang!

Disney is the king of marketing!  So they will do a TV series, then do a move to follow up a TV series, then do more movies and TV series, then clothing and posters for the movies and TV series...and of course dolls! So now lets look at the Cheetah Girls

The Cheetah Girls was an American girl group consisting of Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, Sabrina Bryan, and Raven-SymonĂ© as the starring leads. The group was created by Disney, and was made famous by the eponymous Disney Channel original film and its sequels, The Cheetah Girls 2 and The Cheetah Girls: One World. The group has released three studio albums, Cheetah-licious Christmas, In Concert: The Party's Just Begun Tour, and TCG plus several RIAA certified Platinum albums including, The Cheetah Girls, The Cheetah Girls 2, and The Cheetah Girls: One World. All of their albums and soundtracks have debuted in the Billboard 200. The soundtrack to their first film sold over 2 million copies.

The Cast of the Cheetah Girls:  Raven-SymonĂ© – Galleria Garibaldi, also known as Bubbles, Adrienne Bailon – Chanel Simmon, also known as Chuchie,  Kiely Williams – Aquanette Walker, also known as Aqua, Sabrina Bryan – Dorinda Thomas, also known as Do.

Note that Raven Symone has done a few Disney series along with Selena Gomez. Disney likes musicals and many of the highest rated shows are musicals!

Now To The Dolls!

The following five photos are promo photos

The Cheetah Girls were produced by Jakks Pacific

Galleria Garibaldi
I choose this photo because this is the doll I own.
Aquanette Walker
This photo is the same reason as above

Chanel Simmon
I have this doll too but she was sold nude.

Dorinda Thomas
I don't have this doll at all.  I don't recall seeing her in the thrift stores.

The lineup!

I never purchase any of these dolls new. I only saw them new in Toys R Us and K-Mart and a few discount stores. I found them often in thrift stores. I liked their outfits but wasn't a fan of their bodies. The all have the kinda gift giving arms you see on some older Mattel dolls.

Warning-Nude Dolls!

The body is a little bigger than the Brittany Spears doll body and there aren't as many variations as with the Brittany Spears doll body. She can't wear much of the Mattel doll clothes and the original black pants and boots stained the dolls body. I had to bleach the body to remove the stain. BTW, staining is a big problem with the Jakks doll girls.

Galleria Garibaldi

Closeup of the torso-this is the singing doll.
Brittany has smaller chest and hips!

As of now the only Cheetah Girl doll in my dolliverse is Loraine! She is on a articulated Fashionista body. She has more clothing options now.

Belle

Hey Gang!

I purchased more Disney dolls.  I purchased a new Belle doll.  She and my new
Jasmine ( Indira)  were a great deal on eBay.  I didn’t really think I needed
another Belle doll but I’m glad I got her.

The newer version is a Holiday issue doll.

She isn’t brand new. She is a newer version of the older doll.  This version of the
doll is  much better than my older doll.  My older doll was purchase at a thrift
store and she had on a Pocahontas dress.

Both of my versions of the doll have been re-bodied! My new doll is now on
a Fashionista body. Let's look in the book!

Here is the book!

So I’m not sure when my older doll came out So I consulted my 30 Years
Mattel Fashion Dolls book.

I think it is the 1992 Beauty and the Beast Gift set version of the doll.
The beast was with her when I got her.
Here she is beside her picture in the book. Both of my dolls are by Mattel, having similar but different head sculpts.  The older version of the doll has more of cartoonish.  Her eyes are hazel and there are stars painted in her eyes. Her lips are a soft pink. Her hair is a medium brown and thicker than most dolls.  It had never been smooth or shiny.  Only the strongest of De-tangling shampoo had made it able to be combed.

The newer version uses one of the older head sculpts but the complexion is
lighter and the hair is a better quality. The eyes are green and not hazel.

I am not a fan of the newest versions of the doll I used this one for Tammy's
mom because I new I knew I was going to make her a main character.  So she
would not be staying.

Here they are side by side!

I'm naming her Wendy!

I am not sure if I am keeping the older version of the doll.
I may just keep the head around for a while.

Friends For Naveen!

Hey Gang!

So after my Disney Naveen purchase, I thought he could use some company!
so I added a few other doll of Indian background to my collection.
I added the new Aladdin from Disney! I have named him Amar Khan.  Only
his mom and dad call him Amar.  Everyone else calls him Khan.  I thought
they looked like that would be friends. He has a great smile too! I thought
that they would be the same complexion but Naveen is darker.

They are some of my college student in Johnston and love hanging out and
having fun.

I love the older Mattel Jasmine doll's face the best.  My only problems with
the older Jasmine dolls is the earring made into the body.  When I found
this one (Holiday Princess Jasmine doll that wasn't like that I had to have
her.  She Is Indira!

She is sporting a combination of clothing to give her the look that I wanted.
Skirt and sweater are Mattel, top and shoes are Liv.

I tried adding a gold dot to the side of her nose as a nose ring.  You can't see
it to well in this picture.

Together!

Walmart Part 2!!

Hey Gang!

OK, I don't know if these doll are new or just new to me but I found this items on my return trip to Walmart today.  I thought I would share and chat with you.  First, are these Fashionista!  Here are the first few I spotted.

 Barbie
 Summer
 Teresa
Here Is Nikki.  I love this outfit!  She is on the purchase list.

I posed her with other Nikki's for comparison
 Another group photo!
Here is Raquelle!  I'm not feeling her.

 Two Barbies side by side.
I like the dress on this one the best!

Next are this Disney Princesses!  I found their feet are flat like the old Beach Barbie but a little smaller!
 Belle...She looks worried.
Ariel... The face seems new? And very Disney.  Could she smile larger?
 Cinderella

Tiana!

I'm not sure if her head is getting smaller or she is growing on me!  Something about the face make me think that they adapted her face for the Chyna Parks doll.
Pretty close in size even tho this girl has a big head too!
 Rapunzel

I also found these two accessories pack!  There were only the two styles??? :(
Please excuse the glare here but this looked familiar to me!!!
Oh Yeah, it looks like the Liv salon robe and mask!
I saw this there too.  I scanned it and it was 28.00!
Vanessa, now I know what you wanted to think about it!
I think this is a write in for My Frogg Stuff!
