Nursery School Play Set

 Hey Gang!

Matty is one of my favorite little characters!

She is part of the Reading Family including Carmine(the dad), Brie, Rihanna(  her sister and grandmother Carmen. So where did I find Matty? Here is the answer!

Back in 2012, I purchased this set from Aldi's Market!

The set includes a Barbie doll, 2 toddler dolls(same face), a  jungle gym, school-themed furniture and tons of accessories

Matty was one of the toddler dolls that came with the set. Matty is on the rocking
horse. There is a table and push toy.

There was also a blonde version of the doll in the set. Here she is with the slide and jungle gym.

The Barbie doll below came with the set.

Family Update!

I met with a fellow blogger, Cyano Dolls and Reroots, this weekend!  It was a good meeting.  I am hoping to get two doll's heads rerooted.  We talked about dolls and doll collecting.  I left feeling inspired.   I worked on some doll projects and some story lines. It was just the jumpstart I needed. Thanks Cyano D&R!

So I decided to expand Brie's Family and work on their home.  So here she is with her dad and two sisters and her grandmother.

In the front is Rihanna, Brie and baby Matty. In the back is Carmine and his mother Carmen.

The Reading's

Meet The Reading’s

Mr. Reading is bringing his daughter to school on her first day. They have just moved to Johnston.

Mr. Reading:  See, this school isn’t too different from your last school and I ‘m sure that the teachers and students are as nice too!
Mr. Reading: I guess we should say hello to the readers.

Hi, I’m Brie and this is my father Carmine Reading.

He is a pharmacist. My sisters Rihannah and Matty are still back in B-more with my grandma.  They Should be here soon.
Carmine: Brie, you should only use slang language when talking to your friends.  It is Baltimore and Grandmother…Ok!
Brie: Yes dad!

Carmine: I hear there is a great science program here so you should like that. Carmine has always supported his daughter’s love of science.

Alright Pumpkin, You have a great day and…

I will pick you up after school this week and next week is a walk to school week.

Brie gives her dad a big hug and says goodbye.

A few minutes later Brie is joined by other children.

Thanks For Looking!

Red Head Male from Defa Lucy

Hey Gang!

I saw Philly Collector's blog about a redhead male figure! I had been looking for him for
a while. I saw him last year at a store but I thought that they wanted too much for him.
I was glad to know where I would find him now for a better price. He was part of a
pair of two dolls. The female doll was a Barbie knockoff that I already had. The male
was a little more interesting!

Here is the back of the box. It pictures a Caucasian couple but I purchased the
ethnic set. In the picture on the box, he has painted and molded hair. The doll/figure
I purchased a flocked red hair.

There aren't too many male dolls with red hair. This is the first non-Caucasian
that I have seen with red hair.

Here he is out of the box. He has red eyebrows too!. He is wearing a black
corduroy jacket with purple and beige plaid. It is not the best jacket, not the
worst either. It is not one I think I would put on a guy.

A closeup of the face!
Not a bad face. As Philly Collector said a "character face". He has jointed arms and legs.

The tee says "Fashion for 2008...so that makes it dated. I will have to give the tee some thought.

The pants are corduroy too with a leather look patch at the knee. It is on the outside of the leg and not on the inside like riding pants. The difference between brand doll clothes and knock-offs is the turning of the inseam, darts, and sleeves. That is the giveaway. The pants fit a little strange in the crouch. These are dolls...they are not going for a job interview... so it is OK.

I have been told that you really have to consider coloring when dealing with redheads.
I thought this shirt made him look better.

I haven't given him a name. Any suggestions?
I purchased another male too. I will show him in a future post.
