Thrift Store Puchase For August Part 2

OK Gang!  Here Are The Dolls!

I moslty buy dolls at thrift stores for four reasons: the price, the lack of
packaging, their bodies and their clothes.

You can't beat thrift store prices!  If you find something too expensive at a
thrift store, you can sometimes talk them down.  That is hard to do at a regular
toy store.

Packaging is minimal at a thrift store.  The packaging on some toys is so hard
to get into. At thrift stores  they know if you can't see it you won't purchase it
(except for the mistery box) and in the words of Flip Wilson ..."what you see is
what you get."  If it is broken... you see that.  If parts are missing, you normally
see that and if the legs don't bend, you see that too!

In purchasing from a thrift store you have the opportunity to get outfits and/or
dolls that you didn't get a chance to in the past.  I have found vintage dolls and
clothes in a thrift store and sometimes there is a great surprise waiting for  you
there!

OK! First up is this lady.  She is a My Scene doll.  I am seeing a lot more My
Scene dolls in the thrift stores.  Now this is unscientific but I normally find that
the lag time of when a doll comes out and when they appear heavily in thrift
stores is 8-10 years.  That is the time that the child is no longer playing with it
and mom needs to get it out of the house!  If my memory serves me correctly
the first My Scene dolls had feet that you put on like Bratz dolls.  So I'm thinking
this doll is a second issue  of the doll.

I'm not big on big head dolls but I like the dress/nightgown.  When I needed
non-articulated bodies I would have kept her body but she will go up on my
dollpage-nude.

She has a cute face... you might want to check her out!

Next up is Mel-B from the Spice Girls.  AKA Scary Spice.  I am not sure if
this is an original outfit or not. I already have one Mel-B   She is a little different
that this one.  The hair on mine is in better condition.  This girl need to go over
to Chyna doll for a deep conditioner!
She will also go to thedollpage... nude.

I have been wanting this girl from Only Hearts Club for a long time.  She is
missing shoes but hey, this is a thrift store! She costed a little too much when
they were new but now she is mine! Briana Joy!

I found another My Scene girl .  I told your they were show up a lot!  Now
I really have plans for this top and skirt.

See that! She is trying to hypnotize me into to keeping her!  I... must... resist!

I haven 't been to a thrift store that sold toys where there wasn't a blonde Barbie
and this is another cute dress.  This doll is going up for sale.

Hey, why does my listing say I'm a cheap blonde?  I'm not cheap...I'm
Barbie darn it!

Another reason to shop in a thrift stores is to rescue dolls.  This doll needs saving
in the worst way.  I don't know who she was but her hair is a hot mess!  She
needs a wig from limbe dolls in the worst way!  I need you to email me limbe dolls!

Scary isn't she! Her hair is a matted mess.

Group Shot!

Oh, and Sharpay was there too!

Stay tuned for part 3!  Yes there is more!  Part three will be my last post
for August.  I am trying to be good for September!

Thanks for Looking!

New Articulated Disney Mulan

I purchased the new Disney Mulan and two older Mulans along with the three Tiana dolls from the Disney. (I did a post on Tiana previously.) This is the one with the new articulated body.

Here is the close-up on her face.

I have three other Mulan dolls. Two of them are Mattel and one is Disney. One of my Mattels is a Secret Hero Mulan and the other is a Princess Mulan (Hae).  The  Disney Mulan doll that I have on a Liv body which I call Risa. I really like the faces on the Mulans dolls I have. I planned to purchase new dolls as body donors for the dolls I have with paler complexions that need a new articulated body.
I find the gowns of the Mulan dolls are more worth keeping than most of the Princess dolls to me. They don’t look like the old-fashioned prom gowns like most of the princess gowns.  Sorry this doll had been sitting around a little while so her dress is a little wrinkeled.

The flat shoes of both the Tiana and Mulan will work well in my doll shoe collection. Green Tiana shoes are flats and red Mulan shoes are more like ballet slippers.  These shoes will be OK on Barbie but they are really great for dolls like Francie, Skipper or Happy Family Grandmother.  Francie's little bow shoes might look good on these feet too!

New Mulan feet

I am glad that I went to the Disney store for this purchase and not order it on line because it allowed me to see the complexions of the Disney dolls. The complexions of the Disney dolls differ from the complexions of the dolls Mattel sold. If I had order on line, I might have gotten a Cinderella or a Sleeping Beauty doll and they are not as light as their Mattel counterparts. They looked closer to Fashionista Summer in complexion. Mulan was paler than both those dolls. I didn’t check the Snow White and will check her the next time I go.
Mulan comes wearing a pair of flesh colored panties.

She also has flower hair tie.

You can tell from her photo that she is pale.  Here photos of her with the new Asian Rachelle. She is less pink and a bit paler that  Raquelle.

and Princess Mulan from Mattel. She is less pink that Mattel doll but could work.

Like I state in my post on Tiana, The knee on this doll are similar to the legs on the first wave Mattel Fashionista doll.  They can't move sideways only up and down.

I’m not sure how I feel about the knees of the new Disney doll. Like Liv dolls, these aren’t the sexiest of knees and it doesn’t show well in a short skirt. So I will use the body on a doll that I don’t plan to put in short dresses. I looked through by possible candidate dolls that fit that description that needed a body and came up with....

Akira Takada
I had been thinking about putting her on a Liv body.  Many of my Asian dolls are on Liv bodies so it is time to mix it up!

Her body is a good match!
I think she is happier too on this body.  She can now get more blog time.
I have a few more dolls that Mulan donated her body to that I will show you shortly!

Thrift Store Finds for August! Part #1

Hi Gang!

So recently I have been spending money like a drunken sailor! I bought some new stuff as you have seen! I purchased Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow, Dynamite Girl Back to Brooklyn Remi and Fast Track Victor, Modern Circle Melody, a few Chelsea friends, Justin Beibers, Ken clothing, Asian Barbie for President and Wigged Out Ken.  I might have gotten a few more things that I didn't think of while posting this.

But I also got some plenty of items from the thrift store too! So this is part one of my purchases for August. Yes, I know it is September but I got a little behind! OK, so here we go.

I found these farm/horse items that will fit well with my barn and horse!  The scale is a little off but I think I can make it work.  This stuff came like this…no box.  So I don’t know who it is by but for I dollar, I will not complain.

It looks like the horses would do some jumping with this one.

And maybe did some winning too! There are a few winners’ cups and a horseshoe wreath.
A few other odds and ends.

I put Sharpay in for scale.

There might have been a horse or a doll missing from the set.

You can see some items are missing but must of it is there.
Sharpay kind of like thes things but she like that  dress too!

I think these are interesting.
I will have to remove the sign and raide this to use it.

I can't figure out the what the gold but is used for.

Some food!

Cleaning tools

I also got heres there for a dollar too!
You can always use some greenery!

OOPS!

Hi Gang!

Well I had to go over to Target to get a few things for the house and you know I had to go into the toy section. I was hoping to see the Tim Gunn dolls there but no luck! As I was look at the dolls I notice they had the older Chelsea dolls with the bent arm. I glance at the Renee and she looked like a different doll. So I took her down to get a closer look. I got there other Renee that was there to make sure it wasn’t my eyes having a problem.

Nope, it wasn’t me!  She had a slightly different face.  I guess there had been a problem in the line.  She was a little darker and her head was smaller and her face paint was smaller too to match the face.

Normally this kind of mistake results in a doll not worth purchasing but not with this doll.  Something said to rescue this girl!  The differences my not be as noticeable in this photo so let look at her side-by-side with Renee/Delia.

Her face is small like a Kelly but just a little wider.  Her complexion is about 2 shades off the Renee/Delia doll.  You may not be able to see the complexion differences because of my poor photography….Sorry!

So I purchased her (I shouldn’t have, I spent a lot on dolls lately!)  and took her home for some experimentation!   I put her on a body just slightly smaller than the Chelsea doll.  She can be a whole new character her now!  I have alway said that slight differences shange the charater of a doll.  You can see that here.

I am expecting some smaller bodies in the mail soon so she may go down even further in size.  I will curl her hair and maybe bring her lip color down a few shades too.  But this is the way she is for now!

New Release of Chelsea and Friends!

Chelsea and Friends!

While over at Wal-Mart I noticed that they had a new release of Chelsea and her friends.  Here they are on the shelf. These girls look ready for the beach! They are left to right Madison Chelsea, Kira and Delia!

The names used last time for Chelsea friends were Kitsie, Tamika,Viveca & Renee.

Chelsea!  Sometimes Chelsea has the face with the full smile sometimes not. She comes with a bucket but sadly no shovel.

This is Madison.  I guess we know it is not Chelsea because she doesn't have blue eyes. She has floater for her arms and snorkel glasses.

This is Kira.  She comew with a board.

This is Delia and she comes with a fish floater.

None of these girls have bent arms! Yeah! I notice Tamika is missing from this release! Too bad, I was hoping to get a different looking Tamika.  As you can see I purchased the Delia! I sure hope they come up with friends for Stacey.
