Catwalk Kittie!

The Catwalk!

One of my latest purchases is the Catwalk Kittie
Callie Runway and backstage! It is by Lanard Toys and it
came out about2005. I don't remember see it then but
to be honest...I might not have given it a second look if
I did at that that time. Why...it was a toy cat.
Now, one many say " what the heck... a fashion cat"?
Yeah, well that is what I said when I first saw it too!
But for me, it is just like Bratz. I buy it not for the doll or
should I say cat. ...I buy it for the accessories! For the things
that come along in the box. Catwalk Kitties comes with some
really great stuff! In a big box.

I purchased it on eBay for about $25.00 with free shipping!
I couldn't pass that up! I might have paid more for it if I had
seen it in a store but for $25 with free shipping....I was on it.
It came UPS too.

This is what it looked like in the box. I can't show you mine
because I opened it so fast and didn't think about pictures
until a half hour later. I got this picture from the web.

Here is the cat! All I can say is someone got paid
for coming up with this idea? WOW! So I strip the
doll/cat and I put it up for sale on TheDollpage with
some other stuff. Feel free to look at the things I have
up for sale! I take trades from people I know. I guess
she is what you would call a tabby and she has
green eyes. I am a cat lover but please, not this.
Here is a picture of some the backstage from the web.
It is kinda similar to the My Scene Party Pad
it has an upstairs without the stupid bed in the way
and a staircase. Yeah.. it purple but you
can work with it. Just take a look at what was done
with it on Somewhere That's Green. (They have some
great tutorial on the site on painting Barbie
furniture and structures.)
I think I will use the staircase and second floor
or my department store.
I can see myself have a lot of
fun with this.
Here is mine!

Second floor! I can see I can expand it to make it hold
more things and seem like a true second floor.

Flowers in a vase, table and great crudites. These
are generous platters too.

Folding screen. It is cardboard but cut and will make
a nice template for other screens!

There are some great clothes too on the rack that came with it.
The cat is a little bigger that Barbie so I will have to
use the clothes for my bigger dolls.

Pink plaid shorts.

Peek-a-boo top! Meow!

The dress the cat wore!
The stage minus the Eiffel Tower.

Here it the lighted stage! This is really cool. Yeah it lights up.
flashes and play music. Pretty cool.

The runway! It reminds KiKi of when she was modeling
in Paris!

I would like to have somewhere to put this.
I have bought some pretty
big pieces lately soon I will have to stop to have room
for everything!

Olmec Dolls --Olmec Men!

Olmec Men!
After producing the Imani doll Olmec produced a boyfriend
for her. (If you are unfamiliar with Imani please see my
earlier post on her.) His name was Menelik. The name
Menelik came from an African Emperor of Ethiopia.
As withImani, they produced him in three complexions.
Unfortunately, I only have two of them.

Here is the Evening Gear Menelik and
the Kwanzaa Menelik. One point of interest, the lot fabric
lots for this dolls must have been limited. Many of the
same issue dolls have slightly different clothing fabrics.
Closeup on the face.

They have a "box" haircut that was big at the time and
made popular by the rap group Kid and Play. It is really
scary what use to pass for cool! It was a scary time! :)

The comparison

Warning nude dolls

Here is the doll out of the clothing. The body isn't Ken
quality or the quality of many action figures like World Peace
Keepers. The legs are narrower than Ken's and

the feet are narrower too.

Menelik Ken

Arms can move forward but not sideways
and hands are curved.

Menelik hand Ken hand

I have had problems with the arms breaking off from body
and have replace 2 or 3 doll's bodies when I can locate them
for a good price. The head knob is different that Ken so their
head can not be placed on a Ken body.
Some parts of the Olmec doll line were used again in the
beginning creations of the Janay and Jordan/Tariq line.
I think both dolls were made in China and that might be why.
That line was done by Integrity Toys. in the early year of
the line the body from Jordan could make a good replacement
for the original Olmec body. As a matter of fact, many male
doll heads can fit on that type of body that can fit on a Mattel
Ken body. Many action figures have the same neck opening.
Sadly, the body on the Integrity doll has changed and
can no longer be use for this or other dolls.

The New Barbie Sister!

Sisters Skate and
Sisters Skateboard!

I found these dolls while hunting for 002 #17 Ken doll.
I've had yet to success with #17. So... there are new Barbie sisters.
Here we have Barbie and Stacie.
Sisters Skate
The Barbie is not what I would call anything exciting.
No new face and the head seems large.
She has bendable knees but she has one bent arm. To me,
two bent arms are not OK either. Just one bent arm is not a good
thing either. It limits play with the doll. The Barbie will go into
the body box.

This is a new Stacie face!

She has a cute smile and a pretty face.

Note that Stacie is now a redhead (strawberry Blonde) and not
a blond. Stacie's friend Whitney was always the redhead. So I
guess we won't be seeing Whitney any time soon. She has a
different body too. She has articulation legs.
The skate part comes off and shoes can be worn by itself.

Sisters Skateboard
I also have Skipper and Chelsea. Previously, Barbie's baby
sister was Kelly and I believe that there was a
Chelsea was one of Kelly's friends.

This is a new Skipper and a new Chelsea.

Skipper

Full body shot.

Skipper is now a brunette! In the Skipper line, Courtney
was the brunette and Skipper was a blond too!
Chelsea
New packaging too!

One of the big advantages of cost-cutting at Mattel is that
the packaging is no longer like Fort Knox's. Mostly tape
plastic and thread.

The comparisons!
Chelsea

Chelsea is the same size as the SIS little sister dolls.
There is also a Chelsea sold by herself but she is not
smiling. Surprisingly she is three dollars less than the
SIS little sisters set. Is it because her arm can only go up and
down and not sideways too? Is that worth three extra dollars?

Her hands are different too.
Stacie

Stacie is taller than the old (1992) Stacie and she
has articulating knees. Since this is a new body, clothing
may be an issue for this doll. Also, the addition of
articulation gives both Stacie and Skipper the
cutest little bowlegs.
2010 Stacie is taller than the old (1992) Stacie but
smaller than the (1972) Skipper. She is also smalle
than the 1987 Skipper.

From left to right: 1992 Stacie, new 2010 Stacie, 1972 Skipper,
1987 Skipper.

Stacie's foot barefooted and 2010 Skipper's foot in sneakers
and 1992 Stacie shoe. Plenty of room in the shoe!

2010 Stacie's feet are smaller than 2010 Skipper's feet.
2010 Skipper's feet are narrower than 1992 Stacie shoes.
1992 Stacie had some of the
biggest feet for a small doll. 2010 Skipper's feet same size
as High School Musical dolls andMary Kate and Ashley. Teen
Skipper's feet are a little larger.
OK! I spent way to much time on feet!

Skipper!
From left to right: 2010 Skipper, 1987 Skipper,
Teen Skipper1996. 2010 Skipper is about the body size of High
School Musical doll. I don't own the 1964 skipper so I can't
compare.

Warning nude dolls!

Nude Skippers! Less breast.

Nude Stacies
The 2010 doll has a longer torso!
Three Sisters Together!
I made a good purchase!

Malibu Christie!

Malibu Christie!

This was my last doll purchase of 2010. I didn't
break my doll budget for that time because I go her for
under $30.00! I could not believe it! If the economy
wasn't so bad, many doll collectors would not be selling
and more people would be buying and I probably wouldn't
have this doll! Maybe a Black Francie will come up in my
price range but I doubt it! This is one of those dolls that
pictures do not do justice! I am lover of Julia, but there is
something different and special about this doll!
She has more of an intense look that Julia. Could it be the
absence of eyelashes? They do give Julia a flirty look!

She is much darker that I remember Mattel ever doing for a doll
back them! I can imagine that this doll might have caused
some controversy in her day! She is not on the 1966 Japan
TNT body of a Julia but is on the 1966 Korea body.

Note the difference of the waist. Julia is a "V" and this
one is straight across. The bust on the Malibu body is
bigger too.

Her hands are different. Korean hand are smaller and fingers
are close together than the Japan Julia hands.

Princess of South Africa and Malibu Christie nude.

She is closer in complexion to Princess of South
Africa (POSA)! Note the difference in
body size. POSA is on the 1991 Body which
has a smaller bust and hips. This is not a mint doll.
There are some small pin holes in the feet. You can't see
them in pictures because of her complexion but you can
see them in person. Her hair needs some work too.

I have her hair pulled back but is a little puffy.
The has been a change in the complexion of her torso.
It has a gray cast to it and is no the same complexion as
her legs and head. In looking at other Malibu Christies I
have found this common for this doll.
.
Comparison of Repro, Malibu and original Julia heads
She is still my favorite head of all!
