Modern Circle Melody!

My other recent dolly purchase is Modern Circle Melody!

This is her test shot!
I saw her again for the first time when I was out with Miya and Kevin. Miya had her in her purse and she was trying to find a new body for her. Miya and Kevin told me how well they thought she photographed and show me her pictures on their smartphone. Yeah, I had to have her after that! I was able to find her sold nude on the Dollpage.

Thanks, Cindy Of CindyInKentucky .

She is quite happy here! I love her blue hair! I didn’t think I would but I do! I do like her freckles too. I would never think that she would have purple eyes!

So it is blue hair, purple eyes and orange/red lips! What a combo. I am thinking about repainting the eyes but I’m not sure. You know how I feel about that whole sideway looking eye thing.

And especially after seeing this picture.   I love the look in her eyes!

I did see this another version of the doll on the Dollpage with a multi color blue shorter hair, forward looking eyes and different make-up. I would love to see her in person! For now I have Melody.

Here is a shot comparing the two! Some say the second version didn't have the freckles and some say they did.

Did you know that there is a Flickr photo group for dolls with blue hair?

http://www.flickr.com/groups/740089@N23/pool/

I guess you do need a site for blue haired dolls.  It helps you know how to photograph the doll and how to dress them.  There is a art to dressing a doll with blue hair.

She is easier to dress in blue!

In a vintage Barbie dress.
When I got her home I when and got out my Pop Life Christie!  I have always said that it is the ltttle differences in the face paint of a doll that makes a difference.

The Pop Life dolls lips aren't painted as full!  I would have loved my girl to have fuller lips!

So, she will be know as Darien Templeton.

Thanks for looking!

Comparin’ Aaron!

I wanted to show you my Aaron Cater dolls. Aaron Cater was a teen star and his popularity earned him a doll.  I have two of them. One I purchase years ago and one I just repurchased at a thrift store.  I had the thrift store one before but I sold him. I’m not sure they are on their original bodies. I might have switched my first one but here they are.

Both Aaron Cater dolls were produce by Play Along Toys which is a division of Jakks Toy company. Play Along has produce several 1/6 scale teen and young adult celebrity dolls like Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Sisqo, Cheetah Girls, Hannah Montana, Rock Camp and the Hair Spray dolls. If you would like to read more about the company, click Play Along Toys for the link. The founder of Play Along, Jay Forman, sold his company to Jakks and then started a new company called The Bridge Direct Inc. One of his first dolls is the Justin Bieber doll. Jusin Bieber has made them a good bit of money. You may note the similarities in the body. Side note both Aaron and Justin dolls get hair changes…hmm.

The doll first is 2001 Aaron Carter Doll and the second is from the Oh Aaron Tour—the Flag Outfit. Keeping Ken does a excellent post on him.  I’m not sure of the year on the tour doll; it may have come out in late 2001 or 2002. I have notice that other companies don’t mark changes in head molds and body types like Mattel. So it is a little harder to determine the year.

This is the one I got from the thrift store for 3.00!  I think the pants and shoes are original but I am not sure on the top.

The top has seen better days and will now see the  trash can!

Pants and shoes are in good shape!

They have more than different hair styles, they have different eyes and different bodies too. Check out the flickr post on bodies.

Warning nude dolls

Pivotals and non-pivotal chests!

Arms are the same.

Pivotal body

Leg is the same!

So as you can see, one is a more articulated body. His upper chest pivots and his muscle are more defined. The second appears broader in the chest than the first with no upper body pivot. They both have poseable hands, arm and leg joints. They seem to be built more like an action figure that a doll. Unlike many dolls, he can stand.

The red white and blue Flag outfit is an original outfit.

The clothing made for this doll is pretty good quality and if you find other fashions for these dolls you will find that they hold up style wise well. There were about 4 or 5 doll/outfit combinations. Three outfits for the 2001 hair style ( check the Keeping Ken link) and two for the second hairstyle ( bowl cut).  Flag and

So let compare this doll to others…with a Nude Yoga Competition!

Here he is with Bieber.

Taller, darker....

and more muscular.  The torso is longer and the legs attached higher.

Hands are slightly different.  There must not have been a patent on the body mold.

OK, so theses doll are articulated.  So let's compare them!

Compared with Power Team

Aaron doesn't have the bicep/thigh articulation.

Campared with Formative soldier

Aaron doesn't have the bicep/thigh articulation.

Compared with #15 on a Fashionista body

Aaron is a little better on articulation.

Compared with Johnny Depp

About the same on artiulation but Aaron has the pivotal chest and twist waist.

Nude Yoga competition!

First position-the split.

Fashionista having a problem! He can't split.

Formative soldier is not able to do a full split!

Depp can split with the best on them.

Power Team is very flexible!

Second position- forward split!

Fashionista isn't even going to try.  His legs don't move sideways.

Third postion- the forward march!

Everyone can lift their leg but Fashionista can't flex his foot.

Fourth position- the cross legged sit!
This position separatess the men from the boys!

Fashionista isn't going to try again but Formative soldier is having trouble too!
Power Team is OK but Aaron is having problems.

Depp is good!
Fifth position-the waist tilt!

Only these three can manage that!

End of nude yoga salute!
Alright guys, go put some clothing on!

These guys will become twins Aaron and Warren.  Aaron is older by 7 minutes!

Thanks for looking!

My New Favorite Things!

I wanted to show you some new diorama items I recently purchased from thrift stores and flea markets and what I got from the International Black Doll Show and Sale!

So here we go… I told you I got the gardening set from the Black Doll Show.

My gardener will be Angelina!

Outfit and hat.

 I love the little tools!

Someone recently gave me some Barbie size tools too.

They are a little off scale wise but certain dolls aren't as picky as others!

Next I got this rug at my favorite thrift store.

Xia is our model today. She is dressed in a Miya inspired outfit. Doesn’t she look cute!
I was looking for something like this for someone especial! The rug will go to Chief Running Bear for his home.

Also going to his home is this desk! If you read dbg’s post of Black Doll Collecting on the International Black Doll Show and Sale, you will remember Linda Hayes saying she had a desk at the show. Yes, that right! The early bird gets the worm… or the desk! This is the desk she had for sale! I will give it a hit with some Old English and maybe add some feet to it before sending it to him.

I also purchased from Ms. Hayes is this Power Team guy. It’s funny, I was going to purchase this guy on the Dollpage but the seller already had a sale for him. So now I have him anyway. No name for him or anything yet.

Close-up!

I also from Ms. Hayes is Halle Berry! I immediately rebody her! She is on an AA Fashionista body. She had some pretty strange eyelashes too! So I gave them a trim. I do think she a beauty!  Sometimes she looks like Halle Berry and other times she looks like Nicole Ari Parker.  Haven’t figure a her name either but it will come.

Close-up!

I got these cassette holders from the dollar store.

The will make great chairs for my folks to sit in! When I read Vanessa’s post on Wedding Reception Crisis Averted, chairs were mentioned as a possible issue! I learned from her to pick up chairs when you see them.

I found this sofa which you have seen with Sydney
(Thrift store)
I got these!  This is my original.  It is a candle holder. They show up a lot at my favorite thrift store.  At first I paid then no attention.  Now I look in that section first!
This is my first one!

It had a piece like this in it.

I removed it.

Now I have two!

(Thrift store) I will do the same with these.

(Flea market) two more of these. I already had two

(Thrift store)

and two more of these also to add to my chair collection. Can you have too many chairs?

I purchased this picnic table for my park.

This table and three more came from Style In Scale. Thanks Jennifer! Words don’t do these tables justice! I plan to follow her direction on cleaning. I learned something in the process of purchasing the tables. It cost more to send something from Canada to the US than it cost to send from the US to Canada. That was something I didn’t know.

This table is from my favorite thrift store.

Some lamps from the dollar store. They had these in a few colors….I may need more.

I got an Etch A Sketch…

these, which reminds me of the game Connect Four

 and my extra Foosball table.

I also received some pizza  and breakfast from Vanessa of Van's Doll Treasures!

Xia: Maybe just one slice?

I need to get another of these! Hey Van, What else  ya got?

A little something for Fiona!

I also got a few things for my wee ones!

A car and

Trucks!

Ok! I couldn't pass this up for 5.00!

Now my horses have a home!

Yes, it need some work... will I get to it....maybe!
Yes, I went a little hog wild for a minute!

I’ll show you more dolls later.

Thanks For Looking!
