Cost Isn’t Everything!

Cost Is Not Everything!

Inexpensive dolls can have an interesting
faces too! This is a doll I purchased at
the Dollar Store a few years back.

She has a great face if not the best body.
I call her Amenah.

I think she looks like those women who
comes from countries where the “Middle East”
and “Sub-Saharan African” meets.
I put these areas in quotes because that is
lengthy discussion for another time.
Anyway…Her eyes are heavily outlined
and she has an exotic look to her. She is a
reddish brown complexion.

She is wearing the Kenyan Barbie dress with
white Janay pants. I would imagine that this is
the type of outfit that these women (modern ones)
would wear. A bit traditional and a bit
modern. She would be wearing more jewelery
though.

She is also one of my favorite dolls. The fact
that she was cheap makes her even better.
The cost thing…..I am currently debating
on purchasing a Harley Davidson Ken.
I just want the Ken doll but I will have to by
the set to get the best price for my money.
I am wondering if I should wait to see if the
price goes down or if they do an even better
male doll with that body. I have often waited
for a head molds or a bodies to be released
cheaper and have been rewarded.
What to do, what to do!

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers—Head Swap Doll

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers Head Swap Doll

Wow this feels great! This really feels great.

Wow I can bend my hand.

I can bend my leg.

Hey, I thought we were just showing our neck joints to each other. I did say you could put your head on my body.

I rather like your body. I think I'll keep it!

Wait... you can’t have my body. What will I do for a body!

You can have that old heavy stiff thing they gave me.

We tried to warn you!

I guess I'll be moving on! He he he!

Hey don't leave the box! Whatever you do.. Don't leave the box!

Now what can happen to me out of the box?

You'll be stripped naked and your head

will go into a box in the corner.

You are just teasing me.

Nobody ever listens!

BFC CALISTA

BFC Calista

I will admit, I did like the BFC Dolls when they first came out.
I didn't want one in my collection but Calista has wore me down.
I had read what Philly Collector said aboutthe doll. Then I stumbled
on to Roxanne's Dolldiorama story on Calista. There began a shift at
that point. I looked at the doll a little more while searching for other
dolls. By the time I wanted her, there weren't any in the local stores. This
made me want Calista even more. What sold me on her is that she
wasn't the one who was a model or the one who was the air-headed
or the one who was the designer or the street smart one, she is the smart
one! Then I read that Philly Collector saw her at Big Lot. So when I
was out that way I picked up the last one they had!

So here she is! She comes with all of this.
A sweater, book bag and diary.
Here she is out of the box!

She has a pleasant face.

Like most girls with glasses, she has a pretty eyes and face behind
the glasses!
Pretty black thick hair that is curly.

Here come the comparisons.

She is smaller than Skipper and Taylor. FYI Skipper is the same
height as Taylor but Skipper is a little thicker in the body than
Taylor.
She has a flatter body that Skipper and Taylor and is not as
developed bust wise as Skipper and Taylor. I think that is why
Roxanne made hera little younger than Skipper.
Her arms are longer than both dolls!
They are a little off for her body.
They can where each other's clothes...
but not the shoes!
Calista has bigger feet!
She does have jointed ankles.

FYI, BFC doll's skinny leg jeans are too small for other dolls.
They are almost to small for Calista!
There are a lot of great clothes in this doll line! I might have to pick some
clothing sets.

OK, Thanks For Looking!

My Thrift Store Finds! Woo Hoo!

My Thrift Store Finds!

I was running around trying to get some business
done for my garden club, when spotted one my
favorite thrift stores. I had not been there in a
while. I really shouldn't stop in because
I had a lot to do but I did it anyway!
There weren't many toys the last
time I was there but I was hopeful.
Look what I found! I first saw
one bag sitting by itself. Then I
spotted another bag! Then another bag!
I scooped them up and headed for
the register. The saleswomen said,
Hey... did you see these? It is $3.00!
OK! I will take that too!
I went up the road happy to my next
location! I turned the corner and....
there it was... another thrift store.
I had business to do. So I did that first and
then I went in! So here is my loot!

Bag One

Bag Two

Bag Three

Saleswoman suggestion

This set was such a good price because it had
a little problem! I can fix this!

So....Lets open the bags and see what is in them!
Couch and entertainment center.

The Couch

Barbe models for scale.

The TV only shows sports. Odd for Barbie.
There is a knob that you turn to change the
picture. It rolls the picture.
Table and Lamp!

Green seems to be my color this year!

Chairs! Too flashy for the office. Not sure
where they are from.
Barbie again for scale.

Chair height can be adjusted. They could be
used with Bratz.

At the next store I find these!

Yes! I found Barbie there too. She
is trying to talk me into keeping her.
That is why she appears everywhere.
I love the suit. I am still thinking about
Barbie.

The vase. It is a classic.

Dresser. The hearts will have to go.
Wrong scale.

This lovely bench!

The slats on the seat seem a little wide. You
can't put cushions on a park bench or can you?

I already have a bench but it is smaller and

it rocks. There aren't rocking benches in a park.

Barbie again!

The two benches do look good together.
They do make a nice scene!
