A Rainy Day In Philly!

Hey Gang!

So it is a rainy day here in Philly!  I had to put some packages in the mail so I had
to go out on a day like today!  I wanted them in the mail today and the postman
who has my route skips our block someday!

The Post Office, which I will call the P.O. for here on because of the way I feel about
them, (I am always P.O.'d at them) doesn't want clear tape over the labels.  At least
that is what they say when you bring in a package.  But I have gotten packages with
the shipping labels in a plastic pouch.  I don't know what the difference is.  On a wet
day the label will get wet and you run the risk of it falling apart.  To me, clear tape
over the entire label keeps it from getting wet on a rainy day!

So now to the fun part of my day!  The Dolls!

I was so pleased with how Robin and Lark tuned out that I knew I need to
purchase more Keyshia dolls!

So if I already have two dolls, you ask, then why do I need more?  Well, first of
all, since doing my last post of Robin and Lark, I have decided that they are twins
and that either they or their mother likes to dressing them alike.  You might
remember that I have a special day Keyshia and a weekend fun Keyshia.
I don't have two matching original outfits.  That is one reason why they are
wearing the Only Hearts Club outfits.  The other reason is that I found both
of those outfits at a really good price!  I chose to order more of the Weekend
Fun dolls!  I liked the outfit much better that the Special Day outfit!

Yes to the green top and jeans and no to the red top and plaid skirt.  She came in
the mail yesterday!  To my surprise... it was the original version of Keyshia!
Well this gave me an opportunity to see the original doll in person.

Close up!
OK! Not my best picture but it looked better in the camera than it looks here!

Her hair is lighter than my first Weekend fun doll! (more red than brown) Her lip
color isn't matte like the first one either!  She has a lighter skin tone also.  And I like
the more pronounce eyes of my first model too!

I love the sandals of the original doll and the fact that she does have earrings!

Oddly, the pants are a better fit all over and especially at the waist on the
original doll too!
My experience of reading Black Doll Enthusiast's blog has taught me to give
these dolls a good look over! I found this discoloration on the head and a pin
hole on the chest.  I didn't notice the hole until I reviewed my pictures for
the post.

The original doll has what I think are serial number on her back and the second
release doesn't.
You might not be able to tell from these pictures but the lower arms on the original
are a different color than the upper arm and the body too.  Not much different but
different.

So I don't have a dilemma on which doll head to keep. I am keeping my
first dolls, the second version!  I will loot the outfits with better pants
and the earrings (if I can) from the original version for Robin and Lark.

The second reason for buying more Keyshia is for head swapping...Oh Yeah!
Ms. Leo loves a good head swap!  Roxanne of Roxanne's Dolls got me thinking!
I wanted to rebody a doll or two with the Keyshia bodies! In her post she
rebodied AA Todd!  WOW! he really looked good!  So I will start there!

I tries to remove the head with a blow dyer.  These doll's heads are harder that Mattel's.
I broke off part of the hook on the head knob.  But I didn't break the knob! I would
recommend heating the head really well before trying to remove it.  Unlike Mattel,
the neck knobs of other companies dolls don't have the "give" of Mattel.
I got Todd's head on easy.  It does have a little wobble.  I can't tell if that is the
missing piece of the hook or what but I fixed it will one of the little clear bands
that come with all dolls.  I have a million of them!
Roxanne was right!  He look good on the body!  Like it was originally his
body!  I put some Bratz pants from that thrift store clothing bag on him.

Ms. Leo: Boy, you need a belt! You pants are hanging off your butt like a
hoodlum!
Tevin:But it is what you gave me!

Yeah, I'm calling him Tevin.  I still miss my shorter Todd and would like another
that size but they are going for so much now!  It is a good thing I purchased him
a decade ago like I did!

I took the top off off of Julie

and put it on Tevin!   then I added some glasses.  There is too much light in
this shot! I didn't do that the camera did!  I still working on figuring out the
camera!

Now you can see it!
Tevin: Hey, there are.....marks in this shirt! I look like a girl with short hair!

Ms. Leo: Tevin, it will all come out in the wash!

My sister was famous for wearing my brother's sweaters!  He would hate it when
he found "marks" in his sweaters! She would tell him that they would wash out and
he would say then why didn't you wash it! Oh, the joys of a large family!

He is wearing the Harry Potter glasses and I think that they have found a home!
The shoes are Only Heart.  They make great shoes.  Now my Max has a friend!
Who will get the other body?.....

OK, Thanks For Looking!

April Thrift Store Finds and Purchases!

Hey Gang!

So here are my thrift store finds and Purchases thus far!  I even have started
making jewelry for my dolls so I will show you that too!

First up is

Mary Poppins doll!  I think I scored with this one!  I have never see
this doll before in a thrift store!  She is articulated and her hair
and makeup are in good shape!

She didn't have clothing but I found a bag of doll clothing at the thrift store!
Woo Hoo! You got to love it when you find doll clothes in good shape
at the thrift store! I don't mind buying new doll clothes but most of the new
stuff is made poorly and way to young looking for my older dolls.  Here is
Julie, that is what I'm calling her, with Camille wearing new outfits.  The
shirt and pants Julie is wearing came from the clothes bag along with the pants
that Camille is wearing.

Camille is sporting I top that I got at our last Doll Club meeting!  I'm still
basking in the glow of the meeting!  She is also wearing a necklace I made.

Thanks again D7ana! My dolls are loving all the wonderful clothing I got from you!

Next is this doll.

This doll is on her original body and she came with this dress.  Both her shoes
and the shoes Camille is wearing came in the the clothing bag!
I thought she might be Island Princess Barbie but I have one of those dolls.
She has the same headsculpt (Barbie Basics Tango) as Island princess but she
is on a taller body and her hair color is different!  I made this necklace too!
I'm thinking about naming her Millie!

Then

This Stacie was at the thrift store too.  I like her hat!  It is real blue fabric and
not that pick plastic cap that they gave Darrin!  What were they thinking!

Yeah, Darrin might have to borrow that hat!  Unfortunately her shoes
don't come off!:( She will still be a lot of fun around here.  Look at that
look in her eyes!  Trouble! She has been doing a lot of flipping around.
A Tomboy I think!

Also

I found this in the thrift store too. I don't know what it is but I got it anyway. If you
know, let me know!
It seemed to go well with my new Harry Potter doll.  Oh he isn't wearing his glasses.
He is wearing Max's glasses and Max is now wearing his.

And

Patrick Dempsey doll from Disney's  movie Enchanted is here again!  I had one before
that I sold because his head was soo big but I think I will keep him now.
His clothing was also in the for mentioned bag.

Should he be doctor McDreamy here?  What do you think?

Last Doll

Should he have a wife with a big head too?  I found this Live is a Dream Midge on
sale.  I am a sucker for a redhead.  Even a large redhead.

 Props!

I didn't need another house!  You know I didn't but I could just let is sit there!
It was 3 bucks!  I just couldn't let it sit there.  I already have one Happy Family
house.  So maybe I'll do a street like Vanessa!
The cart was $1.00. I saw these cart a while ago on Flickr and liked it.  It is not
complete but I'm sure I can "Froggy" something.
At first I only saw the one chair.  I madly searched for the second and hoped that
there were more but there were only two.
Yelp! 25 cents each! I don't know what set they belong to.  If you know, let me know.

OK that is it for now!

Thanks For looking!

Another Grail ...Adele

Hey Gang!

Today I added another doll to my collection that I have been wanting....Adele!
That is ... Fashion Royalty Jason Wu 2005 Something Sexy Adele!
The doll I have has had a hair cut but it doesn't take away from the
beauty of the doll at all! I actually love the haircut! It saves me from having
\
to do it! I really like the older Adele head sculpt the best of all!

I think this headsculp looks like Michelle Obama. (Well to me she does.)
It was no surprise that Jason Wu would design clothes that Michelle Obama
would wear.
So here she is in Johnston!  This is Dela Reevs ...
She is the mother of twin girls!
Dela: Hello!  I'm Mrs. Reevs and I'm here to register my daughters for school!
 Lark: Hi, I'm Lark!
 Robin: Hi: I'm Robin!
The girls together: We have just moved to Johnston.
Dela:  Their records are being transferred.  I am hoping to speak with the
princilpal.

Thanks to D7ana for the lovely dress and shoes that Dela is wearing!  It comes
with a matching coat!

Also thanks to  Miya and Kev for the cute pink blouse that Heidi is  wearing
in my post  Coming Soon!.

The outfits worn by Robin and Lark are Only Heart Club outfits.
I added a shell under the tops so that their tummies weren't showing.  They
are wearing Skipper hightop sneakers.  I also cut thier hair.  Their original
hair was way too long!

OK Thanks For Looking!

Opening Soon! Update!

Hey Gang!

Laurent's will be opening soon!  The town is excited!  It is the first
of many new stores to open in this small town.  The outside is almost
finished.  The inside will be finished soon.

So Gang, I am working on the main street in my small town.  There might
be a few incarnations but here is the start.---Laurent's Department Store as
promise a while back.

 Kylie:  What is it Karen?
Karen looks into the store window and is excited!

Karen: Coming Soon! How wonderful! Mommy, they are opening the store soon!

Kylie comes to see!

All the town is excited and a lot of characters are hanging around.
Aya is also looking in the window!
Aya: I so hope there will be shoes!
Aya looks dreamily through the window and hopes that there will be a
large shoe selection or at least she will be able to order shoes!
 Aya: Boots, sandals, sneakers, pumps....
Kylie: I see that they look just about finished!
Karen: They will be opening soon!

Kylie: It is great that they have a bench out here for sitting! Join your mom on the
bench dear!
Karen: Mom, aren't you excited too!  Don't you want to buy stuff?
Kylie: I will more than likely buy somethings but I plan to save too!  The
new bank will be opening too you know!
I want to use my money and buy dolls.  Do you think there will be toys there?

Inside the window of the store!
Kylie: Well...there might be but I think it will be mostly clothes and things for
the home.
You know you can't spend all your money on toys!
But why not! All I want is toys...oh and maybe some pets!
Kylie: Your father and I expect you to be responsible with your money.  That means
that you can buy some toys from time to time but you must save too!
 Karen: Save for bigger toys!
Kylie: No, save for your future!  Save for college, save for a car, save for travel
and save for your own home one day!
Karen: Mommy, that seems soo serious and I am only a kid!

Kylie: Oh it is, and you won't always be a child!  Time passes before
you know it! You must learn good habits about saving now!

Karen: OK mommy, I guess we will go to the bank when it opens too!

After all of that I just purchase a few new dolls.  I don' learn from my own
blog!

There are many I's to dot and T's to cross.  KiKi will be hiring staff!
Orders are coming in too!

Update!  Many have asked so here is the link to Aya's first post!
