After a conversation I had with one of my co-workers
the other day, I came across this video!
It says everything I have always thought! So it
is my Video Of The Month!
I have heard every single one of those. Even the one questioning why I'm collecting such girly dolls as though I'm too butch to engage in such activities. Somehow my anime figures are expected, but a Barbie?! That's for feminine girls apparently.
the one I hate the most is 'dolls creep me out'. I have never, for the life of me, figured that one out. Really? Dolls? I sometimes want to ask what else creeps you out- bananas, weird shaped mud puddles? I don't get how pretty looking dollies gives people the willies. I worked security and people give me the creeps more so than inanimate objects. In fact I feel safer, lol.
I just recently discovered Gypsie's channel. I don't care about what people have to say. My family says my dolls are scary, but then they have ideas bout what I should do or photograph or they are impressed with my dioramas. I'm sure I could find something to judge all of those people about liking, but it's their business. People really need to stop setting unreasonable rules for people just because they're over 18.
Thanks for the video! My favorite answer was to "Don't you have enough dolls? Hell to the naw!" Though in my case, this is an internal dialog, as in "Don't you have enough Barbies?" and my answer is "Yes" for a while, until they release another one that I must have and then it's back to "Hell to the naw!"
As for dolls giving people the creeps, can I please tell you? I'm a doll collector, so I can break the rules right? :) I'm a collector and love dolls, and because of that I have spent a lot of time online looking at images of dolls. On rare occasions, I have come across images of dolls that have made me literally shudder. Believe me, I can see the humor and irony in being a doll collector who finds some dolls creepy. I recognize that it is my issue, and not the collector's or the manufacturer's or the artist's. So perhaps that's why I find it easy to dismiss those who find my dolls creepy. As for other things that I find creepy: towards the top of the list is seeing other people's chewed gum. :)
Thanks for your comments Janainah and RoxanneRoxanne!
Janainah, yeah people ought to let it go! Don't try to keep people in a box or a cage! The world is better for free thinking and collecting people.
RoxanneRoxanne, yeah I liked the "hell to the naw" but I also like the "haven't you eaten enough food for the rest of your life?" I really like and find the channel funny!
