Hey Gang!
A few months ago I found Tamika and Darrin in K-Marts. I wasn't lookingfor them but when new items you haven't seen before fall into your lap,
what are you to do? I showed them at our doll club meeting but I didn't post
them. So her is their post!
Tamika!
Tamika has had a head sculpt change. She has a brown version of thesmiling Chelsea doll face.
She comes with a hula hoop! I do think hula hoops are still popular
because I still see them in stores. The hit their heyday around 1958. I have
attached a link to some info if you are interested!
Darrin!
Darrin is the first boy of this size in the Chelsea line. There have beenboys who have been smaller or taller and AA but none this size that weren't
AA.
Darrin comes wearing a green and white baseball shirt with a T and
soccer ball on it, black pants shoes and a Pink hat. OK, why? Why not
green or blue or white? I'll have to fix that! He also came with a
soccer ball.

Hello from Spain: I have in my collection to Tamika and Darren. They are lovely. Keep in touch
Mattel has fallen off with their barbie line of toys. Do they use focus groups anymore? I guess not. They should pay more attention to culture and gender. The boys are boys, leave the pink to barbie and her sisters/friends. The boys, on the other hand, should have more masculine fashions. The pink hat is a no go.
Thanks for your comments Marta and Doll Crazy!
Marta, I have enjoyed seeing your Tamika and Darren on your blog! They both look like they are having fun there!
Doll Crazy, I agree! There seems to be a problem with the male Barbie line that I don't find in the male Monster High line.
Is his hat really pink? From the photo I thought it was red. Not to get into a gender neutral debate, but I'm over pink and don't want to see it on a girl or a boy. But as Seinfield would say, "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"
Kmart must have had Darrin sitting in the sun somewhere. My Darrin hat is red. I saw a new Tamika in Walmart today. She is wearing a swimsuit. I was happy to see her return to the lineup.
Cute dolls! I'll probably pick up Tamika if I see her.
I don't know what Mattel is thinking when it comes to the Barbie line. They've done away with almost all of the articulation for males and females. All of their Monster High dolls are articulated. The Barbie clothes quality is cheap. No clothes for the kids etc. I will not be buying too many Barbies anymore. Maybe I have enough anyway!
I have yet to see these dolls in person and trust me I have been checking. You have me hooked on the little minis so I want to add a few boys to the mix. They really are cute! Your lucky to have them.
These are cute! I have not seen them. My Kmart is so far away now that they have closed the majority of them. Thanks for sharing.
I'll have to check our stores and see if these two have made it to Australia yet. We do seem to be getting more of these smaller dolls lately. And it is nice to see more boy figures in the line-up (even if he has a pink hat).
Thanks for your comments Muff, Vanessa, RoxanneRoxanne, Phyllis, Brini, Georgia Girl and Carrickters!
Muff, I guess I'm just old-fashioned! I do like my boys to look like boys.
Vanessa, maybe there are some difference in lots but mine is a deep pink. I saw that Timika on the net. She has the older face sculpt without the prominent upper lip paint.
RoxanneRoxanne I do like this version.
Phyllis, I understanding your frustration!!
Brini, Mattel is releasing their dolls a bit haphazard. I was lucky to find Max and Maria along with these two.
Georgia Girl, Kmart doesn't have as many stores as they used to.
Carrickters, yes you do!
Congratulations on getting these cute dolls. You can always redress them to your taste.
D7ana, Thanks for your comment! You are right about redressing them. I have a few I deals I am working on!
