Thrift Store Finds

Hey  Gang!

I have been a little bummed out since learning of the death of Vanessa Morrison
of Van Doll Treasures.  I had always thought she would get better.  She was such a
warrior!  I hope her family leaves her blog and YouTube channel up but let people
know that she will not be answering comments.  Both sites are a real resource.  So
I guess we all must seize the day!

The other day I was at one of my favorite thrift stores and found this girls there!

Life in the Dreamhouse Rachelle and Teresa! I purchased nude but
put them in this temp outfit for photo.

These two are one the only fashionista with the strange sideway smiles.
When I saw the bag that held them, I did see their face.  When I saw their face,
I too made that same smile.  I had always wonder how the conversation
about doing this type of smile went.  What did the person say in the suggestion
of this look. And what was their final argument that made them go
forward with this doll's face. The rooted eyelashes at the time, was new for
fashionista doll.

The original fashion on these doll was pretty nice I think many purchased them for
this reason.

I have see a few people who have them and use them in their photo stories but I don't
think many did! I purchased them for their fashionista bodies. I and trying to decide
if I want to sell the head or keep it for the rare times when that facial expression
would be useful.

I have the Dreamhouse Midge who doesn't have this smile and wonder why the
didn't make her that way too.

OK, Thanks For Looking!

I, too, still have moments of intense sadness when I think about the fact that Vanessa is no longer with us. I found some Power Team guys in store yesterday and thought how excited she would have been to go looking for some new characters for her stories. That made me cry.
I think the smirk on Raquelle's face is taken from the Life in the Dream House webisodes in which she can often be seen making that face. A smile wouldn't have made sense for her character. Great finds!

Thanks for your comment Jewell! Yeah, it is that type of thing.... Something she would like or something you know she would comment on. The universe seems a little empty somehow now. I wonder how her mom is.

I don't think I have seen any of the Barbie shows or movies.

I hear you Ms. Leo. She was such a fighter I didn't think she would succumb to her illness. She will be missed.

Those Fashionistas are pretty popular on eBay if you want to sell them body and all.

Hi, Ms. Leo! Good to see you here.

Yes, like you, I miss Vanessa Morrison. She's a role model - I think - because she was creative and generous and upbeat. As long as her website is up, we can visit it and feel her positivity. There won't be new content, but she contributed so much, we can get inspiration and comfort from what she left. (Hoping that her site will remain up.)

Neat to see your new girls here. They look cute. Raquelle looks so snarky, I can imagine her making you smile because she'd say things more circumspect characters wouldn't.

I have checked and wondered about Vanessa's site being updated with one final post letting people know that she was a talented person who inspired several people and kept us all looking forward to another post. I wish she had been able to be here longer and continue to share her stories and talent.

I have always wondered why this doll has that smirk. I don't get it, but I guess it makes her different.

Yes, I too miss Vanessa a great deal. I really miss her and her doll family. I wish her family would leave a small tribute to her on her blog.
