Gifts from a Dolly Friend!

 Hey Gang!

I recieved some really great  handmade doll clothes in the mail from a fellow blogger and Youtuber Shasarignis Barbie & Co.  I remember a while back when she sent her lovely fashions to Van's Doll Treasures Vanessa!  I thought...how wonderful that must be to receive such wonderful clothes for your doll! As with many of you, I do miss Vanessa and think about her blog and her presents in the dollyverse!

If you want to see some of the things I was sent, here is a link to some of the handmade fashions that have been created.   I will show you some of what I got and how truly wonderful they are!

So any of you who have hand sewn a item knows that the smaller the item, the smaller the stitch need to be! So to have tiny, even, straight hand sewn stitches is challenging!

You will note that the vest is lined with buttons! The over lock stitches are excellent and the garments are fun and flirty!

Name tag inside of vest!
Hem!

I showed them to my husband who was very impressed. His father used to be a tailor and showed him how to sew. He admired the stitch work.  We had a long talk about different types of hand stitches and how it is a lost art.

A few pieces model by a few of my dolls! Don't tell Ms. D! She didn't know these came in and there were modeling opportunities!

Two New Fashionista Males!

 Hey Gang!

I added two new fashionista guys to my collection!

First is #153

He is described as "Sculpted Dreadlocks & Animal Print Sweatshirt!

Yup! Mattel calls them Dreadlocks and that what I call them too! It appears that the

cute names (ie Proud in Print) are gone!

Mattel Promo Photos!

When I first saw the promo pictures of this guy on line, I didn't care for him.

I definitely didn't think I would want him!

One look at his face in the store and I knew he need to come home with me.
It might be my imagination but there seemed to be sun rays around his face!

I can work with his clothes but maybe not the way the put him together! I didn't think
the print top worked with these shorts! I have seem the separate pieces restyle and they looked good.

I liked the boot though! Also not with the shorts.

The majority of the Broad Ken dolls come in shorts. I think only two have had long pants.
so if you want long pants, try some of the 80's fashions to find things that might fit. Other than
that, you will have to sew.

He is the third Broad AA doll that Mattel has done!

The other two were
#114 Which is a SIS Grace Complexion.

#18 which is more of a SIS Kara complexion.

#153 is closer to a Chandra complexion! #18 compared to  #153!
I love the sun bleached dreads look! It looks more like what well worn dreads would look like!
There is the normal imperfection on the body that I have had to accept in Mattel's playline.

I have decided to call him Ahmir, the older brother of Kamua.

Ahmir and Kamau!

Next up is Fashionista Ken # 154

He is described as Sculpted Purple Hair & Plaid Shirt!
Mattel promo photos
When I saw this guy, I know I wanted him!

I didn't care for the purple hair in the promo photos but I new I could paint him.
I have done a lot of sculpted hair painting in the last two years.
I thought the shirt was interesting. It reminds me of something you would see in Old Navy.
I can always use more black sneakers!

You couldn't tell from the promo be unless you look closely, but he is a Slim Ken

like Cactus Cooler!

He ins't in any of my local store and I purchased him on Amazon as part of their promotional
sale days!
The first thing I did was to check the face screening as that has been an issue lately.
Out of the box, I liked him! I have a light complexion articulated body coming but I don't think
I will use it on him! He will be a teen here. Hey Mattel, we need broad and slim articulated bodies!
I also check out the shirt when I got him.  I find that with more detail, the more opportunity for something to go wrong! The show was good...
I might do a little trim on the back of the collar.
I don't know if you have noticed but most of the slim Ken have had jean pant or black pants.
Not as many shorts as the broad Ken dolls. The slim Ken dolls can wear Descendant doll male pants, some Mattel Ken pants, Some Monster High male pants, some High School Musical and some
Bratz shorts.

My repaint!

So here he is as my repaint!

Brown hair with black streaks! His name is Hoa!

Back to Home Depot!

Hey Gang!

While waiting for the lab to be finished, Hikaru had to do something.  He is
working at the local home depot.  This allows him to purchase the supplies
needed for his own home at a discount, to see and get updates from Harold
when he comes in for supplies, to meet the community and make money
while waiting.  He is learning about tools and home repair too.
Joseph, the manager is great to work for.

Joseph takes time daily to greet costumers and see how things are going.
Staying in the office never gives you the full picture of how a business is doing.
Joseph: Hello and welcome to Home Depot!
Stringer: Hello! I came here because I new you had a large selection of gift cards!
Joseph: Yes we do! It is one of the things we pride our self on.
Joseph thinks to himself the store is busy! Good!
Thad: I was looking for trash cans for the yard.
Joseph: We have a large selection right over here.
Joseph: It is a deep can. It is 70 gallons! We have a lot of color too!
Thad: Well...I was looking for a lighter blue than that. Lighter than the blue of my shirt.
Joseph: I have some in the back. I will bring it up for you!
Joseph: OK, I am going over to have some keys made!
Joseph: Key making is on aisle 6!
Joseph thinks to himself...OK, where did he go?
Joseph: Here he comes! Did you get your keys made?
Joseph: Oh, yes!  I looked in the garden section too!  I want to add some trees.
Joey: Dad, there you are! I went to your office!
Joseph: I am out here greeting customers and see how things are going.
Joey: I  should work here! I could work for you! It would be more fun than the Museum.
Joey: You have to deal with customers there! They are a pain.
Joseph: I have to deal with customers here too and so would you!
Joey: But I am the bosses son here! I can do what I want right!

Joseph: No Joey, that isn't what working is about. A job is about your customers! No
matter what your job is. Your mom's customers are call patients. It is all about
the customers.
