My New Kenmore Mini Sewing Machine!

After watching many of limbe dolls videos, I
purchased my own mini sewing machine. It is
not the Janome Sew Mini that she has and it too
doesn't have a light on the machine.
Oh, and thanks limbe dolls for the inspiration!

The thing I like about it is that for a small machine
it has power! I am looking forward to making and
repairing things to give my dolls a better wardrobe.
As my doll character get more defined, it is hard to
find outfit that they might wear. I will be forced to
make more of the outfits they will need. This may lead
to more time in between posts while I make outfits.
I hope not but maybe. I want to show you a few
simple things I made in the last few days!

So KiKi likes to combine her third world sensibility
with western style. This makes it hard for me to pick
out piece that are produced for fashion dolls that
work for her. This dress I made.

First dress for KiKi!

Re-sew and style!

This outfit-the top is a Defa Lucy top and the skirt
was a piece that I found on a doll I purchased from
the thrift store. The seams on this skirt were gone.
I almost trashed it months ago. I had to re-sewing
and create a new waist band. It will look great on
the vacation she and Terrence will take.

As you might know, the grandmother doll body is
larger that other Mattel Barbie bodies. There wasn't
a full wardrobe of clothing for this doll even when it
was first released. For my Camille, the grandmother
wardrobe will not work. I feel Camille still has a
strong sense of fashion even at her age. So I want her
to have a wardrobe that expresses that. She live on an
island and her wardrobe should reflect that too. I plan
to expand some items and make a few others items
to accomplish this.

Camille's first dress!

Congratulations on your new sewing machine! Wow, that Defa Lucy outfit is cute, but I really like the items you created for Kiki and Camille. Camille's outfit looks fresh and conservative without being dowdy. Kudos on your success there.

Very nice Ms. Leo! You did good. I love The color of Kiki's dress.

Thanks D7ana, Frannie and Georgia Girl!

D7ana, that is the look I was going for on Camille. She needs a few more items. I not sure what I need her to wear as owner of the Villa yet. As for that bright color skirt of KiKi's, I had to soak the old skirt in Shout before I worked with it and then a little beach and soup. The fabric then looked good. It screamed KiKi! You know I wouldn't have done that my hand. I'm too lazy!

Georgia Girl, KiKi love color! Both of these worked well for her. I think she needs a skirt.

Frannie, Dominique is demanding some new outfits! She would also like a comforter too! I'll have to take her shopping.

Hi Ms. Leo,

Glad to see you are enjoying your new sewing machine. I like all the outfits you have made so far but I bet the men are wondering "when is it our turn?" :-)

Hey limbe dolls!
I was so inspired by all you videos! The last snow day I watched them all back to back. I have to find a real fabric store that sells the stretch lace next!

It funny that you mentioned the men! I am working on a dress for Ms. D. I have extra fabric that would make something nice for a guy. Do you have any videos? ;)

Hello from Spain: the clothes you did to Kiki and Grandma I was perfect. You were right to buy the sewing machine. I have a very similar But do not know how to use. I like to see your creations. I love the entrance and pictures of Steven and his new job. The detail of the mobile is very real and conversation with her grandmother. Keep in touch.

Hey, Ms. Leo. Are you sewing from scratch or making your own patterns?

Ms. Leo said...

Thanks Heather, Marta and Hey, It's Muff for liking my outfits!

Heather, I don't need mini hands but I do need to use the needle threader more this time sewing that I remember the last time I sewed something! It is funny, I used to sew alot back in the day. My sisters and nieces still do alot of sewing. I think they even have a serger? Hmm.

Marta, I did have to read the handbook before I started. I normally don't do that but it did help! If you want me to, I copy mine and send it to you.

I'm glad you like Steve and the TV station.

Hey, It is Muff, I've been ruffing it as far as patterns go. I been playing with it until it works. I have 6 doll patterns that I have even cut out. Plus last week I printed out all of Niel's patterns from his site (http://1-6thsensedolls.blogspot.com/). So I think I'm good for a long time.

Hey Niel, I told you I was going to make those dress!

Hello again from Spain: thank you for your help. My machine also comes with instructions but in the end I find it very difficult because the fabric twists and the needle as I sew. I think the problem is that not a skill for me. Thank you for your attention. Keep in touch.

Congrats on your mini sewing machine. It's cute. You've made and modified fashions quite well with it, too. I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks Vanessa, Marta dbg of BDE and Tracy India!

Vanessa, Tracy and dbg of BDE, I am working on some outfits! I hope to show them soon.

Marta, you should take it to a fabric store and have them show you how to use it. That might just be all you need.
